Matt Carlucci, a moderate Republican defeated in last month's mayoral voting, endorsed Democrat Nat Glover yesterday as his candidate in the May 13 runoff.
The decision adds enormous credibility to Glover's efforts to court centrist voters across party lines, especially in Southside neighborhoods where neither he nor Republican John Peyton held decisive support. The two-term sheriff has repeatedly spoken of promoting public unity, and his campaign previously printed buttons reading "Republicans 4 Glover."

This'll probably energize some Republicans who'll make dang sure to go to the polls to vote for Peyton just to spite the back-stabber, even if they weren't big on Peyton in the first place.
