Abortion foes back Fletcher, Richards: Right to Life committee makes primary choices

The political arm of the Kentucky Right to Life Association, the state's leading anti-abortion group, has endorsed Republican Ernie Fletcher and Democrat Jody Richards for governor in the May 20 primary election.

The endorsement could be a greater boost for Richards, who has trailed in fund-raising and polls in his Democratic race with Attorney General Ben Chandler and businessman Bruce Lunsford.

Interesting that a majority of Democrat primary voters in Kentucky are pro-life.

I hear that Kentucky is one of the most pro-life states in the Union, and this backs it up.

A poll for Richards' campaign March 16-18 found that given a choice between protecting "the rights of the unborn" and "a woman's right to choose,'' 47 percent chose the former and 37 percent chose the latter. The poll, of Democrats who said they would certainly or probably vote in the primary,
