The Iowa Farm Bureau's political action committee on Friday endorsed Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa for the first time, but spurned Gov. Tom Vilsack.
The move by the influential, often Republican-leaning farm group to give its "Friend of Agriculture" designation to Harkin, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, brought howls of protest from the campaign of Rep. Greg Ganske, Harkin's GOP challenger.

thought I'd posted the first 2 paragraphs as the 'opening',, I'm not sure what I did wrong.
You did it exactly right from what I can tell. Unless you wanted to put just the first two paragraphs and excerpt the rest.
Whatever you post in the "Body of Thread" will be the first page so to speak, then what is posted in "Body of Comment" becomes post 1. That's where I put the stick guy and the previous threads link. Post 2 is where I ping everyone because there's no box for that in post 1 (Body of Comment). Hope that makes sense. :-) But you done good! See, it's easy as pie.
Oh and down with Tom Harkin! Booooooooooo!
"This is the first time I've ever known of any organization to endorse a candidate who had a lower score (on vote ratings) than the other candidate," he said. Grassley said he presumes the "Iowa staff was hoodwinked by cotton and rice farmers from the South."
Quit blowing smoke at us Chuck...Bill Salier rated better than Ganske on most any scale, and you guys supported Ganske.
What's funniest (but sad) is that Salier, as an active farmer, would have garnered this endorsement.
This is a transparently political endorsement simply because Commie Tommy Harkin chairs the Ag Committee.
The fools who made this cowardly decision are going to have hell to pay when the Dems lose the Senate on Nov. 5th...and they will deserve every bit of it.
EV
I respectfully disagree with you, EV. Eventho Ganske had a better voting record on FB issues, Harkin is the Senate Ag Committee Chair and the FB PAC Board would have endorsed him come hell or high water. I really hope this comes back to bite them,,,, but time will tell. Bill, with no voting record at all,,, and as an inexperienced challenger would not have gotten the endorsement. I like Bill. But I don't think he could have gotten the nod.
How is Gross' campaign for governor going?
It has also given us rural depopulation policies so these guys can create a prairie empire.
It is also the mentality that makes Republicans join in the competition to see who can give away the most of other people's money. Republicans just try to do it a little more cheaply. We're doomed. There just isn't the moral will for any elected official to say this is wrong. And we have a nation full of citizens who think they're entitled to other people's money
I spent yesterday afternoon at an event in Van Burean County. Gross, Ganske, Leach, Whitaker, Hartwick and several local candidates were there. I think the Gross campaign is going well.
That was my first thought when I read this article. Anyone making a endorsement banking on the Dems holding on the Senate is crazy! Why does the Farm Bureau feel the need to endorse ANYONE? Is it a political organization? Do all the farmers in Iowa sit around holding their breath waiting for the light of brilliance to shine from the FB? They'll be turning blue this year because it looks like the FB missed the mark. Harkin is a Socialist and would be no good for this country in general and the farmers in particular; that is unless the Farm Bureau is a bunch of socialists, also.
By the way, good post Iowa Granny!
No, they probably saw your terrific post and want to give you even more work!
