These are the words of floriduh voter. I have just learned that former controversial Clearwater, FL Mayor Gabe Cazares is involved in McBride's campaign.
He was mayor quite some time ago and I recall that my Dad knew him. Clearwater used to be a small community back then, I was a beach bum and I can't remember specifics regarding Gabe Cazares' scandal/controversy.
So, if you're interested in this subject matter, then have at it and let's do some research on Clearwater's former mayor.
True, we may not need to know after this Tuesday but gee, let's see what rock Cazares crawled out from under. It may be an attempt to grab some latino votes since I believe that Gabe is of latin heritage. Guess McBride has low numbers with hispanic voters. How's his Spanish?

I'll try to find a picture of Cazares. As I indicated, my dad knew the mayor before the scandal. It may have been his repudiation of the Scientologists moving here but that's all I've got. I am interested since my dad knew the guy. My dad is no longer livng but maybe my mom can provide some information. This governor's race never ceases to amaze me. Fregards. floriduh voter

Here's a 1998 picture of Gabe Cezares.

And, please note: I want to be clear that I have not accused or made allegations against Mr. Cezares. He is foolish however, to support McBride. FV

I recall you asked me about Scientology setting up in Clearwater. One of their early opponent's political career was ruined in "Operation Taco-Less".

Here's a url from a Clearwater Sun news paper article from 1979. I am not posting anything here because I don't do religious threads.

Being fully aware that there may be freepers who are scientologists, I am not going to criticize your beliefs. I have just provided 2 links above to explain what happened to Gabe Cezares.
Within the last three or four years, my brother played drums with Edgar Winter and Chic Corea. It was also the thrill of his lifetime to talk to Chic Corea who is a scientologist. Ironically, scientologists throw big Christmas parties.

No ping list for this thread. Just wanted to point out to everyone that McLawyer might be having trouble drumming up support by hispanic voters if he has to turn to Gabe Cezares right before the election.
Someone completely different provided this information. I say they're getting worried about Tuesday, plenty worried. FV

Governor Bush with hispanic supporters in Broward County.

"Hispanics account for 11 percent of the fast-growing population in a swath of Central Florida ranging from Tampa Bay to Daytona Beach -- as much as 18 percent in Tampa's Hillsborough County, nearly 19 percent in Orange and 29 percent in Osceola."
Excerpted from one of your threads. Looks like McLawyer's in trouble with hispanic voters and he's running out of t i m e...

I meant "your" as in anyone who reads this thread. I know that you are not a scientologist. Now, I'll leave you alone. Lucky you. LOL

Tick-tock. Tick-tock.

I'll be glad when Tuesday's over. The real campaign begins bright and early Wednesday morning. And that includes out of staters who want to help Jeb too. The more the merrier!

Ping. Looks like McBride is scrambling for the hispanic vote in Pinellas County.

Just found this. As soon as I get back home, I intend to follow up on it and find out what it's all about. Thanks

Here's what just occurred to me. McBride is using former and current hispanic mayors to try to get out the hispanic vote in different parts of Florida. Since his favorables must not be very good with hispanics, he is leaning on civic leaders of hispanic origin to drum up support.
If latinos do not care for McBride, he'll never beat Jeb Bush in the governor's race. Houston, McBride has a problem with his inside polling data.
