Trump considers pulling Todd Blanche's attorney general nomination as senators hold out

US President Donald Trump says he is considering withdrawing Todd Blanche's nomination to be attorney general as his confirmation appears stalled in the Senate.

Blanche, who has been acting in the role since April, needs the support of all Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee for his confirmation to advance.

However, two senators - John Cornyn from Texas and North Carolina's Thom Tillis, whose terms both expire in January - are withholding theirs over the status of a controversial fund to compensate Trump allies.

"I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd's name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office," Trump said.

Trump says he doesn't blame Texas senator for blocking nomination of AG

“This is being done by a senator, and I don’t really blame him to be honest with you,” the president said during a cabinet meeting. I endorsed his opponent. The man that lost, the man that I didn’t endorse, has become very angry, and that’s OK.”

Trump said he would do the same thing if he were in Cornyn’s shoes.

Nominate Ed Martin instead. Blanche is a Democrat in Democrat clothing.

Is he qualified or not? When did “advise and consent” turn to withhold until you win political battles?

The DOJ is America’s KGB. It represents the state and controls law enforcement and prosecution. Therefore, it’s the highest political body of the government.

Like the KGB, if you don’t control it, or at least have allies there, your stay in the politburo will be very short.

I admit Trump makes mostly bad appointments. Especially for Attorney General. 0-3.

So why do you think Trump picked Blanche if he’s so bad? Maybe to be 0-4 in loser A/G picks?

Trump takes care of his friends, and Todd is his friend as well as his attorney.

He blocked the Epstein files because he didn't want any of his friends to be hurt.

It has been my observation that NOTHING in government works as it was explained in seventh grade civics class.

Corny and Tilly are both worthless pols who maintain personal interests over those of their constituents. The American people will be much better off after these two deadbeats leave office. They should have been gone years ago.

Very misleading headline - but then what would you expect from the BBC.

Here’s what Trump said....

“”I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office,” Trump said.”

n the meantime he would remain as acting AG, so nothing’s changed.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is warning that President Trump’s threat to withdraw Todd Blanche’s nomination to serve as attorney general and resubmit it in 2027 to circumvent GOP critics could backfire because control of the Senate could flip in November.

Asked by a reporter Thursday whether it would be “risky” to delay Blanche’s nomination until the next Congress, Kennedy responded: “Well, duh. Yeah.”

“This place could be very different,” Kennedy said, noting Democrats could pick up seats in the Senate or win control of the upper chamber.

Senate Republicans now control 53 seats.

He can put someone else in as interim and get Blanche after those pricks are gone.

God these people are stoooooopid. Lynch is AG. He will BE Ag even if “acting.” So it doesn’t really matter what Cornhole does. I don’t care if Lynch “acts” as AG for the next two years.
