Texas Senate race heats up over Cornyn's gas price comment

In a report from The Bulwark on Republican sentiment on soaring gas prices…

Cornyn, R-TX, said the hike in gas is a "small price to pay" to continue the war.

"If the American people understood," Cornyn said, "they would certainly agree."

“After 40 years in public office, John Cornyn still doesn’t understand that working Texans are drowning because DC politicians like him are driving up the cost of everything," said Talarico campaign spokesperson J.T. Ennis in a news release…

Cornyn is set to face Attorney General Ken Paxton in a May 26 runoff. The winner of that contest will face Talarico in the November 3 General Election.

“Cornyn sounds like he’d be right at home here on FR.”

But you certainly never do.

And when are people ever going to stop thinking that every headline they read was written by a divine personage?

I agree with Cornyn 100%. Remember, this gas problem is Iran's doing not President Trumps.

The gas problem under Biden was created by Biden himself.

DC and the Epstein class is deeply out of touch. He’s so out of touch that he doesn’t know to think it but, realize he shouldn’t say it out loud. I paid my 60 dollar Israeli tax today. A solid extra 2 bucks a gallon just for NetanYahoo

Ha! Algore drives electric. But he is stupid enough to take his electric car to a gas station and fork over 100 bucks.

Cornyn is a nominal conservative. This is for re-election purposes. He is not MAGA. I have no idea what his true beliefs are.

Paxton is a flawed man in his personal life. He is a PIT BULL in defense of conservative values, Texas, Constitution and our president.

I am voting for the flawed man. I am as flawed as he.

Gas was close to $5.50 a gallon near me yesterday. $150 to fill up the Canyonero. It’s still worth it to win the war against Iran, but I know plenty of people who feel otherwise.

Sacajaweau, I agree with Cornyn, too. He’s not always wrong - just squishy, If I lived in Texas, I’d still vote for Abott.

“I am voting for the flawed man. I am as flawed as he.”

Good to know. I grow weary with idiots reminding us all that Trump is not a perfect person, as if they are themselves.
