Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott told "The Charlie Kirk Show" on Thursday that Senate Republicans are going to pass the SAVE Act to mandate voter ID and verification of citizenship to register to vote, and if Democrats want to stop it, they'll have to do a talking filibuster.
"The concept that you don’t have to show your ID to vote is foreign," Scott said. "We're going to get this done. The president is on board. He knows we have to use the talking filibuster to get his agenda done."
"Is it a pain in the rear? Yeah. But so what? This is a full-time job. We ought to be busting our tails every day for the American people. This is a very important piece of legislation that’s going to save this country," Scott said. "You're being too nice. The Democrats know they can't win wit their polciies, they want fraud to win. The only explanation is they want to cheat."
"If you want to talk, have at it. But when you’re done talking, we are going to vote, and it’s going to take 50 votes plus the vice president to pass legislation or nominations."

I believe most States handle welfare through the EBT system ... and many States happily hand those cards to illegal aliens.
Only because some states give illegals drivers license or state photo ID. In red and purple states it is much more difficult for illegals.
Welfare is much bigger than EBT. There is Medicaid, Rent subsidies, Heat subsidies, Obama phones, free internet, free legal services, free transport to hospitals, free lunch in schools on and on. I don’t think EBT card can be used for all those benefits.
In many States, illegal aliens manage to access all of those benefits ... either without ID, or with fake ID ...
You’re actually starting to develop the argument that voter ID requirements are useless. I’m not there yet, but it’s certainly a potential problem.
I hope the sentiment in senate is not as pessimistic as yours.
Bring back some of the DOGE boys to find dirt on Thune. Otherwise this will never happen.

More seriously, I've been asking for a real filibuster for years instead of the Democrats' postal reply card filibuster. Imagine be if the Dems had to stand and talk for the entire thousand hours of the last (or is it now the one before last) government shutdown. No nights off, no weekends, no holidays, no vacations, no fact finding junkets to the Caribbean. Just doing the job you were elected to do full time, not two and a half days on some weeks.
Do you realize that voter fraud is much easier without voter ID? Will voter ID requirement stop every fraud vote? No! But voter ID will make fraud more difficult. Why do you think the democrat politicians are vehemently against voter ID if it has nor effect on fraud? You are beginning to sound like a democrat.
I would like to see the SAVE act passed and signed by the President, if for no other reason that to shove it down The Lizard King’s throat ... I have considered Schumer to be the most disgusting person in American politics for decades. However, I have little doubt that corrupt democRAT States will find ways to subvert it.

They get EBT cards and don’t need ID to use them to make purchases or pull money out of an ATM. In fact, a lot of people get multiple EBT cards fraudulently pretty easily, go buy the priciest steaks and other things, sell them for half price cash and don’t need an ID for that.
I can’t recall the last time that I cashed a check at my bank and needed to provide ID, I provide my account number and that is all they need (though I do have forced security questions that they must ask me first). Same with getting cash from a human teller.
There are tons of ways to get around needing an ID for many things. Other things absolutely do require state issued ID, but listing among them things that do not just makes your argument fall flat.
Voter ID-—What a strange concept.
I just wish they would add a little pelosi tactics to their milquetoast approach to politics to get important bills like this passed.

So...the calendar should be clear to vote on issues like this. I want a vote to force them on the record...even if it is a failed cloture vote I want to see who votes for it and against it.
We've had voter ID here in Alabama for several years. Every time I go to vote I see many black folks voting. The last time I voted, there was even a young black man checking photo IDs and voter registration to verify that people were eligible to vote.
Must be that Jim Crow 2.0 Schmucky's been howling about.
