The Republican establishment is on the verge of extinction. Donald Trump’s first term wasn’t enough to kill it off: Trump came into office in 2017 with establishment figures such as Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan leading the party in Congress, and Trump’s own vice president, Mike Pence, had been chosen for that role as a reassurance to the old guard...
This time, though, things are very different. Though congressional Republicans have yet to become thoroughly MAGA, there’s no longer a sense that GOP leaders in the House or Senate represent a distinct political brand of their own, as McConnell and Ryan did. Trump’s second administration has been rigorous about vetting potential hires for loyalty...Vice President J.D. Vance is everything Pence was not...
The GOP old guard’s last, desperate hope for defeating MAGA is to deny Trump’s natural successor the White House in 2028, starting – if they get their way – by denying him the Republican nomination.
The end of last year brought the first major offensive against Vance, using Tucker Carlson as a weapon against him. Carlson chose to play with plutonium on his podcast by interviewing in a less-than-unfriendly manner the outright anti-Semite Nick Fuentes. The fallout burned anyone on the right who defended Carlson
“When did you stop accepting responsibility for Carlson and his guests” became the new “when did you stop beating your wife?” Vance wouldn’t play along...

Who is the guy ? New face 2 years in as Gov. and he becomes VP ? Who is behind him ?
You mean as two years as Senator?
Apparently Peter Thiel vouched for Vance. And I like Thiel.
Not so sure......I am impressed by “Little Marco”
The so-called “rift” in MAGA is all an illusion, like all other cabal-staged events.
Just because three podcasters get into an argument doesn’t mean MAGA is fracturing.
You don’t have to be a genius to see this.
Rubio and Cruz are the GOP establishment favorites so far...

If anyone around here harbors doubts that JD should be the ‘28 nominee, I’d ask them to review his performance at the press conference today. The man was magnificent. JDV is easily the best GOP vice-president of my lifetime and probably the smartest, most capable debater in that role since Nixon was Ike’s VP.
.
The state of freerepublic.com itself indicates otherwise LoL.
A JD fan here. I like Marco Rubio, but I do not think he is the whole package like JD is. Plus, I am not sure of his establishment past. Do either of them WANT the job?
👍
My MAGA radar indicates to me that the ONLY significant person in the Trump Administration that is GENUINE MAGA and speaks MAGA is Stephen Miller.
Unfortunately a Jew from California is not likely to be a viable candidate for POTUS.
I have contempt for all senators and former senators from both parties.
No good ever comes from the senate.
In my lifetime my three worst votes came from the senate and were for Dole, McCain and Romney.
The two worst presidents in my lifetime were Obammy and Joey and they would have been topped by Harris if she had gotten elected.
I repeat nothing goods ever comes from the Senate, not LBJ, not Nixon, not McGovern, not Kerry, not Gore, not Crooked Hillary.
The Obammy and Biden presidencies make Bubba’s presidency look relatively good.
My current favorite for 2028 is Tulsi Gabbard.
I’ve come to the point in my life realizing that my two best votes for POTUS were Reagan and Trump both former Democrats.
I have no idea whether Gabbard is truly MAGA or can go out on the campaign trail and speak MAGA, but her pressers as DNI have been the most impressive of any of Trump’s appointments as I cringe whenever Blondi, Patel or Noem give a presser.
Vance and Rubio have done serviceable work.
But why wouldn’t they take the opportunity to do their best for Team Trump and MAGA?
Charlie Kirk urged Trump to pick Vance as VP.
And thankfully, Trump did so.
I saw that press conference today.
Vice President Vance was incredible.
The voters decide. Each person gets a vote.
I think a Vance/rubio ticket would be hard to beat.
“You mean as two years as Senator?”
Oops - my bad . I’m very suspicious of his super quick advance to VP and now all the talk of his being the next POTUS .
I do not believe Marco is stupid enough to believe he can restore the GOP to its country club , duplicitous way of bearding America. But who knows, maybe he is fooling us all.
Meanwhile I am celebrating Cuba Libre ahead of time:
With the rhumba:

Music well worth listening "Cuba Mi Corazon"
That's where Little Marco Comes from.
There is historic precedent to think of VP’s as natural successors of sorts...but no, it won’t be a coronation. It will be a hard fought battle I am sure.
