The Red Wave That Wasn’t
The American Conservative ^ | December 12, 2022 | Bradley Devlin

Republican voters did their part. When one accumulates the popular vote for House races across the country, Republicans won by three percentage points—a margin that was once just under five points but narrowed as votes from deep-blue districts trickled in over weeks after Election Day. That kind of turnout for Republicans “would normally translate into GOP gains of 20-30 seats,” according to the Cook Political Report. But Republicans have as of early December netted only eight seats, bringing their total in the House to 220. At most, Republicans will hold 222. In races that seemed to be easy flips, Republicans flopped.

Republican voters across the country are starving for some accountability, and justifiably so. They should look no further than GOP leadership, namely House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Throughout the 2022 midterms, GOP leadership gave exorbitantly to liberal and squishy Republicans—the type that would vote to codify same sex marriage—over America First candidates who wanted to take the party in a new direction. GOP leadership lit money on fire in the primaries to prevent America First candidates from making it to the general. When some of them made it through the primaries bloodied and bruised, McCarthy and McConnell filled their pots, put them over the fire, and left the room, only to return and try to save some of these candidates in the general election when they found themselves in hot water.

Don’t let the establishment blame former president Donald Trump. The only reason Republicans took the House was because Trump pulled several House Republicans across the line in 2020. The GOP’s overperformance with Trump on the ballot also gave Republicans redistricting power in crucial states like Arizona and Florida.

“3. Trump, although it is a bit unfair to dump everything on him, isn’t exactly helping and shares responsibility as the supposed leader of Republicans over three disappointing elections.”

Cry me a river. You’re delusional. Trump increased his vote total by over 16,000,000 votes (more than any second election president in history). Trump got more votes by far than any Republican or Democrat president in history (except a basement dwelling, demented old retard who couldn’t draw a crowd of 50 people and insulted blacks every other week). Yet, somehow beat Obama in his prime in every black neighborhood in the country by over 30%.

Trump got a million more votes than DeSantis supposedly great election. I can hear your whine now, but it was presidential election (normally the difference is 500,000 votes between gov and pres, not over a million).

And of course you haven’t heard about the big tech suppression, full on media bias, FBI and Intel attempting a coup, Corrupt DOJ, and all the actually voter fraud evidence.

Your TDS is in overdrive.

I am in Arizona. We had outstanding candidates. The election was stolen.

“I wish that were true. They never would’ve lost if we had better candidates.”

We could have perfect candidates but after the media gets done with them, they’ll lose their appeal.

The democrats control all the major institutions that matter & there isn’t a damn thing we can do about it.

“Trump’s message of “sTolEn ElecTionS” won’t bring out voters, if elections are rigged, why bother voting?”

Now, that is a strange statement.

I heard Trump speak at four or five rallies. He did mention the stolen election for a few minutes out an over sixty minute speech, and he listed things that needed to be done and what he had planned to do in 2025.

Trump can’t campaign for the entire Republican Congress and so forth.

“We are party of conspiracy nuts and Q morons”

Seems that you and the MSM are on the same page with your talking points.

Also, I would like to point out that, since the vast majority of the voters say the country in on the wrong path, and evidently enough of them still voted democrat — well, that is not the fault of anyone except the voters. We have a stupid electorate. Look at Georgia and Pennsylvania.

One party offers gov. free sh*t cradle to grave + abortion on demand.

The other "asks" you to be responsible for your own life(and a life you might create).

Dems knew the yutes viewed THEIR vision more favorably(by far)...all they needed was an apparatus to get them (yutes) to actually "cast a ballot"(an alternative option to having to make the effort to actually go to the polling place, with an ID, and... VOTE....which is something dems hadn't (until 2018) been able to do with the yute vote).

They found the solution(harvesting, etc.), then the "never let it go to waste" crisis of covid, which opened up countless ways to (perhaps forever) game the system through absentee(laziness/lawlessness) for everyone.

That, along with the MAGA vs. GOPe internal strife/power struggle...

...that soured the stew enough to make many Rep. voters just say "why bother...tails they win, heads we lose".

....this isn't rocket science...it's manipulation/indoctrination vs. tradition.

Yutes have been manipulated/indoctrinated to view ANY/ALL tradition as...evil.

We weren’t beat by the RATS this time. RINOs beat the Republicans in 2022. They ate the Red Wave. The Romenys, the Cheneys, Michael Steele, the Boltons, the Barrs, the Christies, the Moosekowskis, all of the “experts” on FNC, to name a few.

Fighting for what exactly? On the eve of the election is he doing anything to improve the all important GOP ground game? Probably the most effective shortterm tool we have available? Not just tweeting about it but actually do real things behind the scenes? Nope, the times he talks about it he just effectively encourages conservatives to only limit themselves to election day while leftists get weeks or months to vote.

Does he actually do anything effective against electoral fraud? Nope. He just tries the same old strategy that failed over and over to reach outside the GOP. He focuses too much on vague grand conspiracies he cannot offer enough evidence for to independents and simply yelling fraud and not enough on the indisputable banality of the vote harvesting etc occurring right in front of us. It simply doesn’t work as shown repeatedly. But he still returns to the same playbook every election.

Does he seem to put the party above himself? Nope, while the GOP is being bloodied his main concern is attacking not McConnell but DeSantis. He talks a big game about GOPe and the deep state but when you look at the people he surrounds himself with and chooses they are a lot more deep state than they are conservative.

What are you expecting him to do against fraud? He’s not holding the reins of power thanks to said fraud.

Perhaps you’re saying it’s time to exchange the ballot box for the bullet box?

The elections WERE stolen. I wrote my senators and told them I’ll be registering as an independent this week because Republicans are STILL NOT ADDRESSING ELECTION FRAUD. Almost none of the pubs are even talking about it! There is no point in voting if elections aren’t made more honest. Burn it down mf’ers!

Can’t expect the Uniparty to address one of their latest tools for consolidating power, can you.

It was all a head fake

correct

Because we offered the voters nothing

Again, correct

We didn’t even have a ground game and whined about how the democrats were doing a way better job

Again, correct

Our message was non existent

Again, correct

Our senate leadership failed

Again, correct

Trump’s message of “sTolEn ElecTionS” won’t bring out voters, if elections are rigged, why bother voting?

could be

We didn’t encourage early voting, think about it, you can get way more voters through the voting machines quicker over 7 days vs 1 day, we could have had shorter lines, which would easily mean more voters on election day being counted. But we refuse to do this, why?

I disagree with early voting except in extreme circumstances and I don't think this is a valid criticism/scenario

We are party of conspiracy nuts and Q morons

not sure about this because many of the so-called "conspiracy theories" are turning out to be correct.

We poisoned ourselves with moderates, centrists, etc. They either don’t show up or vote for the D because they appear safer and more reasonable

I agree with this.

Our media sucks

This is an obvious truth

One more HUGE thing - we don't have anyone running for office that can succinctly state and argue the Conservative issues in a measured and reasonable manner. This is partially due to the terrible cultural climate we have fostered mostly thru the Internet/Cable News/Instant gratification/Tik-Tok/Facebook/Me me me me world.

Memes are not going to win real elections.
