Pueblos’ redistricting map would oust only Native American NM congresswoman
The Piñon Post ^ | September 21, 2021 | John Block

19 Native American pueblos and the Jicarilla Apache Nation have submitted congressional redistricting plans to the Citizens Redistricting Committee, which ironically would likely oust current Republican Congresswoman Yvette Herrell — a Native American member of the Cherokee Nation.

“This effort reflects not only an understanding of the importance of tribal involvement in the redistricting process, but more importantly, the need to protect our cherished right to vote,” claimed Wilfred Herrera Jr., governor of Laguna Pueblo and chairman of the All Pueblo Council of Governors.

As reported by the Albuquerque Journal:

The proposed congressional map would dramatically reshape the 1st Congressional District, currently in Albuquerque and the East Mountains.

Southwestern Albuquerque and the South Valley would become part of the southern New Mexico-based 2nd Congressional District.

The 1st Congressional District, meanwhile, would cover parts of Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, and swing down to pick up Soccoro.

The plan would also make the Third Congressional District span all the way from San Juan County down to Chaves County. Native Americans would make up 17% of the voting-age population in the District.

The proposal putting the South Valley of Albuquerque into the Second District would break up the constituency and swing the Second District to become Democrat-controlled, pushing Native American Rep. Herrell out of power. Similar proposals by far-left fringe groups eerily mirror those of the Native American pueblos, which would, in bad faith, sway all New Mexico’s districts to be Democrat-controlled.

Though anything is possible and never to be underestimated given the radical left-wing population of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, the current thinking is that relatively minor changes to the state congressional map will be approved by the courts.

The political corruption in New Mexico is monumental, and it has been since Arizona was split off many moons ago.

The Indians vote 100% communist in New Mexico. They are adding them to the Albuquerque area to solidify the communist hold on that seat. And the Southern NM seat adds the leftist Albuquerque south valley to ensure the communists always win he southern district.
All three NM seats will always go communist from now on.

The north-western edge of the NM-2 pueblo map is also home to Native-Americans

The left/dems have been hating American Indians for years. They were the party of slavery, why is anyone surprised ?

True. However, the implication is that a “Native American” in New Mexico would be part of a Southwestern tribal group rather than one located in the Southeast or Oklahoma.

Me thinks this ignores another 10-point Hispanic swing against the Rats by November of 22, all across the Southwest and even trending in Kalifornia. But, we shall see. As always, the Stupid Party casts a long shadow when it comes to elections.

Yep. And god bless you, and the others like you.

By the way, you Indians serve in the US military at FIVE times the rate per capita of any other US demographic.

Thank you.

The way I see it,(personal opinion here) Serving in the military is a way of being counted a warrior in any tribe. Carries a distinction for life as they use the same word for Active duty or veteran.
So thats probably why you see active duty participation at higher rates than other groups. That and life on the reservation offers less opportunities to get ahead. Even one term of service helps alot of Natives to succeed in life.
