Lancaster city is a world apart from the Amish-themed tourism normally associated with Lancaster county. Almost all of the visitors to the area drive right by on the way to the shopping, eating and entertainment attractions outside the city.
It looks like the mayor was elected in an off year election with under 5000 votes (for a city of 60000. I’m not sure what the registration numbers are, but that seems like a low barrier to overcome in an off year election if the populace is so inclined and a single good challenger is found) and she is up for reelection next year.
