CNN has joined Twitter in calling for the dropping of certain terms associated with slavery or that evoke racist notions about Black people.
Some of these terms include master bedrooms/bathrooms. CNN argued while it remains unclear whether the term is rooted in American slavery on plantations, it evokes that history.
The term master bedroom was first used in 1926, over sixty years after slavery was abolished.
Blacklist and whitelist are also problematic, according to CNN and Twitter, because even though the terms dont appear to be directly connected to race, some argue that they reinforce notions that black=bad and white=good.

and Black Lives Matter ?
Whats a white list?
The “C” in “CNN” stands for “Cable” and that makes me think of nooses, so therefore they’re racists and I demand they be removed from my TV!
opposite of a black list - a list to allow through.. not used as much though.
What about a Blackout?? And Black Friday??
CNN = XiNN - get it?
what Rubbish! these people have less smarts than a stale cowpie
The Black Hills in South Dakota.
Master Bath. MasterLlock. Masters of the Universe. Master/Slave Hard Drive. Master Card. Master Mechanic. Masters Degree. And then there’s this from Stevie Wonder...MASTER BLASTER.
Where does it end.
What about Black Friday sales?
We are preparing to build a house on my wife’s farm in a couple of years. If we go to an architect and they refuse to use terms like master bedroom and master bath, I’ll look for a less woke architect.
Why is the word “master” triggering, while the words “slavery”, “plantation” and “y’all” used in this article are not?
Eventually they’re going to try to replace the masks that they force us to wear with muzzles. They don’t want the plebes to be able to express themselves at all.
Does this mean that CNN is willing to ignore Master’s Degrees? Great! Most of them are highly overrated any way. For instance, no one needs a master’s degree to teach elementary school yet if you possess a master’s degree you get paid more.
These people are doing incredible things, important things for our society. We should all be thankful they had the guts to stand up, and say what’s on their mind. We must commission statues for every one of them.
And what about your business being ‘In The Black’ as opposed to ‘In The Red’.
I know, we’ll now say ‘In The White’ instead of ‘In The Black’.
Will that make them happy?
I was a Realtor in Columbus, Oh. for years and our Board of Realtors put a directive out at least fifteen or more years ago that advertising and information could not use these terms. I would suspect in most areas across the country that this has been around for a long time.
5 children gunned down over the weekend and they are worried about silly colloquial expressions that are only abbreviated communication.
We need to be worried about values, morality and families in this country, not silly words.
