The University of Florida announced Thursday that its putting an end to the Gator Bait chant at sporting events, citing the racist history behind the phrase.
The change was announced by the University of Florida President Kent Fuchs who said the phrase invokes historic racist imagery, while acknowledging that theres no evidence linking the chant to racism. The chant involves fans shouting gator bait and mimicking the chomping jaws of an alligator with their arms, accompanied by music.
While I know of no evidence of racism associated with our Gator Bait cheer at [University of Florida] sporting events, there is horrific historic racist imagery associated with the phrase, Fuchs said.

Bet this is for all non-black students ONLY.
LOL, good luck stopping the audience. You just taunted and dared them.
Will racism training be a “how to” course?
Obviously, most of those kids came from our public school system. Who has been running our public school system?
Unintentionally.
This must be like the racist origins of LSU’s “neck” chant.

“while acknowledging that theres no evidence linking the chant to racism.”
Ra ra ree. Kick em in the knee.
Whatever.
With Demented Pedophile Rapist running for POTUS, and of course NAMBLA, shouldn’t “jail bait” also be retired?
I encourage the crowd to use the chant whenever they want and extend the well deserved one finger salute to any ANTIFA-hole in the stadium who objects. Should they object too much, simply give them an attitude adjustment. More of us than them and it’s past time to give them some worry about opening their damned mouths.
"so I'll just make something up to show how woke I am. " (sigh)
Abject freaks.
Ok, that’s disturbing.
This must be the companion article to the one about the medical school that determined saying “I can’t breathe” when describing condition is racially insensitive.
“The change was announced by the University of Florida President Kent Fuchs who said the phrase invokes historic racist imagery,”
To Mr. Fuchs I say, with all due respect, ... fuch you.
Guess we’ll not be able root for our Fresno State Bulldogs, “Go, Dogs!”
Oh I do hope you are right. I also hope students boycott the stupid class. I would never attend such a thing and never did attend diversity training at work. I was always able to find something else to do.
Did the Greeks get the email?
