Democrats are increasingly worried by the spending chasm between the two sides and its implications for 2020.
Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee have raised more than $300 million this year for his reelection more than any other sitting president in history at this point in the campaign.
Trump has nearly twice as much cash on hand $158 million, between his campaign account and the RNC as Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee had at this time in his successful re-election run.
Already this year, Trumps campaign operation has spent close to $23 million on TV and digital advertising, more than 10 times the amount that the lone major Democratic super PAC spending against him, Priorities USA, has laid out so far in its online-only spending campaign. Story Continued Below
Democrats are growing increasingly alarmed by the spending chasm between the two sides and its implications for the general election.
The resources he has will be put to work anywhere and everywhere that he feels like he can scare up electoral votes, and Democrats will never catch up. Its just too much money, said Chris Lippincott, a Texas-based Democratic strategist who ran a super PAC opposing Sen. Ted Cruz last year. Thats real trouble Im not here to curse the dark, but its dark.
And the situation stands to get worse.

I keep telling people, the polls are nothing but psyops. Ignore.
Sane America never wanted impeachment. They are not interested.
What they care about is that they are not only working, they have actual job *choices*. They have fatter paychecks. Theyll be able to buy more gifts this Christmas. And their 401Ks have swollen.
These things matter to Sane America and they will gladly crawl over cut glass to keep it going.
We still haven’t got enough funds.
The amount given should not only scare the Democrats it should scare the Republicans silly.
I detest, absolutely DETEST the RINOs and Globalist Republicans.
My beloved keeps reminding me that RINOs are all that will come out of those Light Blue states.
My reply is usually not a nice reply to his reminder.
LOL
You keep bundling and I’ll keep donating to President Trump....”He who laughs last...”
Dems, you ain’t seen nuthin yet...
How about...got a paper cut..the solution...impeachment. Or lost the car keys...the solution...impeachment. Ripped my pants...the solution...impeachment. Summoned for jury duty...the solution...impeachment.
Good point.
More money being donated than Soros.
Trump is not that way though, and neither is his team. As a matter of character, Trump regards even great success as never enough and aims to do more. For Trump's presidential re-election campaign, that means getting a large win for Trump and bringing in many Republican candidates down the ballot. That is what the Democrats fear.
If Trump does that and racks up major political successes in the second term, he will secure not just a grand place in history for himself but may also break the Democratic party and establish the GOP as the country's new majority party. That could make 2020 a rare event in American politics, a true realignment election. For Democrats, that would be a political apocalypse.
True. It fits!
Don’t get cocky. By how much did Hillary outspend Trump in 2016? Money isn’t as important as a motivated electorate is.
DNC was by all measures bankrupt after the 2016 election thanks to Hillary. It hasn’t gotten any better for them.
The Democrats were expected to do MUCH better than they did in 2018. Historically, the midterms do heavily favor the party not in the White House. It was supposed to be a blue wave - they were supposed to win the Senate too, but we actually picked up a few seats.
Also, when I say landslide, I mean electoral college, of course. Something approaching 400.
The popular vote always seems close in two way race - around 57% is about the most you can hope for, even in an electoral landslide. That is because about three quarters of the voters are so uninformed they are just guessing - they may as well be flipping a coin. So, as with a coin toss, each party statistically gets half of the 75%, or 37.5%, effectively canceling each other out.
Its really only around 25% - the rational voters - that is in play, so that if Trump really kills it, and wins 3/4 of that 25%, or 18.75% - thats a pretty lopsided win - but it would still only give him 37.5 plus 18.75 = 56.25%.
Obviously, the percentages I used were just for illustration purposes - Im just trying to explain, statistically, why the popular vote in a two way race is always so close, even in a so-called landslide.
Its because there are so many low information voters who tend to vote almost randomly, and thus divide 50/50 - so they cancel each other out.
I sent Trump $20 yesterday & will do my best to send at least $50 by next June. Carving it out of Soc Sec $$$.
Even Tom Steyer snt dumb enough to waste another $100 million on them, instead he is spending it himself.”””””
He is bombarding the Reno TV market with ads.
He throws out cryptic bits & pieces which often can be read in different ways, and is only throwing rocks. He doesn’t seem to have a SINGLE idea about what he would do to change what he thinks is wrong....at least NOT in his ads.
The most irritating is the one about ‘The banks caused the mortgage crisis”.
I am pretty damn sure that the politicians—as far back as Jimmah Carter caused that crisis.
They got on the bandwagon that “EVERYBODY should own their own home”, and then demanded that banks DRASTICALLY LOWER their lending standards to let persons that were NOT qualified to buy a T-shirt on payments to “buy a house”. Anyone who could ‘fog a mirror’ could get a mortgage loan. An ILLEGAL crop picker in Fresno, Calif got a loan for a $650,000 house. Income from harvesting various crops.....
Add ID ONLY from Mexico. Foreclosed on in 9 months & the politicians were aghast that the bank had taken his house!!
It could ONLY end in disaster-—and it did.
The same kind of disaster Obama caused when he took all the student loans into the Federal government & the local banks were shafted-—along with the students. I know a person whose loan payments are automatically deducted from her bank account & the agency handling those payments cannot get it straight at all. She spends a day away from her office 2 or more times a year going over the records with the bank AND the local payments manager. She & the Bank are ALWAYS correct-—and the payment manager records are a fiasco. But it costs her time away from her office.
Hard to swallow a person who is spending such sums & appears to still be part of the problem-—and will NEVER be part of the solution. He makes my skin crawl.
3) he has honed his campaign rallies into the perfect campaign venues - “””
I thought I heard that the Dallas City Council made an Emergency edict last week that there couldn’t be Porta Potties outside Trump’s venue....to accommodate the overflow crowd.
What happened? Did it get solved???
Having the media is worth a few hundred million to the Dems. That’s about all they have. Seriously, who is going to send Biden or Warren money - they garner zero enthusiasm.
Brad Parscal is a genius! And he came out of nowhere. I am shocked at how much the Trump campaign is raking in. Shifty Schiff better step up his impeachment efforts because Trump will get re-elected.
Haha!
They really think that will discourage Trump fans?
I heard security wasnt letting women take their handbags into the venue - so they were just tossing them in the garbage and going in.
