The “impeachment probe” is a lie, like everything else Democrats do or say. They have no legal authority to investigate anything other than what’s publicly known.

“can’t defend the president...”

...can’t defend very well when you’re blindfolded and gagged, can you?

“We’ll get a more Democratic result by not voting on it.”

I’m certainly no constitutional scholar, but doesn’t it seem that by following this extra-constitutional process, the House is running the risk of the Senate doing the same?

What they are doing it extra-constitutional because the Constitution dictates no fixed process for impeachment investigations or trials. The House is free to set it’s own rules and procedures and can impeach over the way a President combs his hair if they want to (and it might just come to that). Assuming they fiddle around and stink up the joint as long as Nancy deems fit and then they pass articles of impeachment, what does the Senate have to do?

My reading says “the Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments” and that a 2/3 majority is required, but that’s it. So the Senate is equally free to adopt extra-constitutional rules and procedures of it’s own, and since it’s a trial they can allow the President as much access to information, discovery, call witnesses, etc as they want. The point is, they could easily dismiss it in an hour, or drag it out for months, and put the nation in gridlock, meanwhile Trump remains President, free to make Scotus and other judicial appointments, issue EOs, and all the rest.

Well, Nacy, Schitt and Co. are not following the Constitution which gives impeachment power to the House of Repesentatives entire, not just one “party.” So what the Dems are doing so far is unconstitutional.

Article One of the Constitution is very clear in its plain meaning:

“The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment. “

I hope they do go to court to enforce their kangaroo court subpoenas. It would likely go all the way to the Supreme Court after Pelosi et.al judge shop to take the matter before a Clinton or Obama appointed judge.

Without including the entire House of Representatives with all proceedings observing due process, its just as Republican Representatives say, a secretive “ Star Chamber” of scurrilous self serving partisan propaganda.

In short this is a violation of the Civil Rights of the President under color of law.

Donald Trump is going to beat the Dems like a drum in Nov. 2020. America is behind him , supporting him in this illegal activity foisted upon the People.I hope they just keep doubling down on their Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Well, they certainly can’t defend the president when you don’t allow them to vote NO on an impeachment inquiry, you don’t allow them to call witnesses in the hearings, you don’t allow them to know the NAMES of key witnesses, and you refuse to let them even come into some of the depositions.

All the while claiming it is for secrecy, but leaking anything that helps their cause.

We never wanted a vote. We just wanted to put doubts about Trump in the minds of low information voters.

The problem is that they’re not “in court.” This is basically like a bill of attainder, that is, creating the crime and the process specifically to nail a political enemy. They are not formalizing anything because then it could be challenged.
