It isn’t easy to figure out what Donald Trump is up to sometimes. Why would someone who spent half of his first term fighting allegations of colluding with Russia to win the White House try to collude with another foreign country to be reelected?
The day after special counsel Robert Mueller appeared before Congress to answer questions about his two-year investigation into whether Trump’s presidential campaign conspired with Russia to defeat Hillary Clinton, Trump called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to ask him to dig up dirt on a 2020 rival, Joe Biden.
It doesn’t make sense. Unless, of course, it’s part of his campaign strategy.
What better way for Trump to motivate his base than convince supporters that his impeachment is an attempt by Democratic socialists to take over the country? In the process, he might even recruit a few stragglers as well.
It is clear that the majority of the country does not support Trump. They know exactly who he is, and they’re sick of him. But, there’s still that roughly 40% of Americans who have been loyal since day one.
Those are the folks Trump was talking about when he said at a campaign rally in 2016, “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose voters."

Whenever I read the words of someone who is so utterly illogical and who clearly believes mutually contradictory ideas, my mind hurts. I wonder how such people can function without collapsing into an incoherently babbling heap.

Trump doesn’t need jack. The people who NEED to do the convincing are the ones doing the impeaching. Specifically, they NEED to convince Trump voters that their impeachment of him is due to crimes, not politics.
If they are unable to convince us Trump supporters (i.e., 90% of the Republican Party) of the above, then Trump will NOT be convicted in the Senate, as voting to remove Trump is political suicide for Republicans*, until and unless Trump’s people are on board with his removal...and nothing, NOTHING AT ALL, is pointing that way.
Bottom line - Trump is perfectly safe.
*Not just Senate Republicans either, but Republicans at every level, as millions of conservatives just won’t vote at all if Trump is removed unjustly

I expected this drivel from the left wing nuts. Problem is, the rift is to great and nobody is listening to them. I encourage every american to actually read the ‘whistleblower’ account and the ‘actual’ conversation released. When they are willing to do so, they quickly realize that Trump did nothing wrong.
Most of us, who are here on the FR know that the next civil war has already begun. It started when the Democrats weaponized government under Obama, and destroyed the DOJ.
I have said for 3 years, that Trump had to prosecute those responsible, including former POTUS, as quickly as possible or people would quickly lose faith in Federal Government. When people believe that the Fed Gov is completely corrupt, and part of a single political party, it is absolute certainty that bloodshed is coming.
So I say it here, Sessions helped to destroy his own country by his inaction. Barr better get off the bagpipes and start publicly arresting people for sedition, or expect the tree of liberty to be watered. It’s clear that these responsible seditious jokers wont’ stop until they know the system actually works.
Impeach a president you don’t politically like for no crime...
