The president is coming to Minneapolis. Don’t expect a warm welcome from city officials.

Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election team is planning an Oct. 10 campaign rally at Target Center, but Minneapolis’ top elected officials were quick to denounce the president on Thursday after the announcement came out.

Not surprisingly, the official Twitter account of the Republican Party of Minnesota responded to the news in very different terms, describing the state’s GOP faithful as “overjoyed” by the president's fourth visit to the state in 16 months.

The news came just days after Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the House will launch an impeachment probe into allegations the president pressured Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president and could challenge Trump in next year’s election.

“Under ordinary circumstances, it would be an honor to welcome a sitting President of the United States to Minneapolis and to showcase all our city has to offer on the national stage. But these aren’t ordinary circumstances,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said in a statement released shortly after the rally was announced.

Frey said the president has shown “he does not value the perspectives or rights of Minneapolis’ diverse communities,” adding that the whole of the city “will not stand behind” the president.

He doesn’t want it, it’s about the people.

Charlottesville was organized with massive help from white liberal ‘elites’... it was NOT a conservative protest.

You know that, right?

Oh, no, he’s not going to get visited by the people that have made Minneapolis worse? Whatever will he do?

And how much will city’s businesses make from the visit? And chance to show city diversity? Nope, kill the business and show intolerance. Smart.

Only a fool would believe that Charlottesville wasn’t an organized trap orchestrated by Punk McAuliffe, and given the result, only an oaf would believe that model won’t be tried again.

I’ve know a few ‘organizers’ in my life - and there are distinct styles.

A basic conservative protest is 8 people and an American Flag. Up from that is a few hundred conservatives who will leave a protest area cleaner than they found it.

Conservatives don’t charter buses, hire professionals to write slogans (and kids to make homemade looking signs), or buy props (tiki torches in this case).

Antifa, acting in concert with the corrupt, left-wing local & state government of Virginia, is what went wrong in Charlottesville. It will happen again as long as vile rats like Jacob Frye have their hands on political power.

Leftist violence targeting anyone who looks like a Trump supporter.

I believe the rally will move to someplace outside the city.

The rally I attended last year was very much littered. In fact it was rather shocking because paper, bottles, umbrellas (it was raining) etc. were everywhere. But...Secret Service allowed nothing that even looked like a trash container anywhere near auditorium and the organizers had the place spotless by early the next morning.

I think the new Viqueens stadium would be easier to secure than the Target Center. Downtown Minnecraponus is going to be a nightmare, add to that the Minnecraponus police department is practically useless. The TNC 08 will seem like nothing. Remember back then then punks were planning to use remote incendiary devices meant to maim or kill law enforcement personnel.

IIRC the President came close to carrying Minnesota. I wonder if he has plans to carry it next year.
