Former White House strategist Stephen Bannon said in a new interview that he doubts any of the announced 2020 Democratic primary candidates could stand up to President Trump.
In an interview with AM 970's The Answer in New York, Bannon told host John Catsimatidis that Democrats' failure to address foreign policy on the debate stage, particularly concerning China, would be their downfall.
The key to the Democrats right now is that they really dont talk about foreign affairs or national security. Its like theyre running for student council president. Eventually theyre going to have to wake up to the fact that climate change may be a problem in the long term, but right now you have an existential threat today by the Chinese Communist Party," Bannon said.
"You dont hear a peep from the Democrats talking about this," Bannon added. "They are not stepping up to the central issues of our time, which is a direct threat to the economic well-being and the national security well-being of the American people."

Bannon is right. Trump would be a very formidable opponent in any debate. So if I were advising the Democrat nominee, Id say this. Do not debate Trump. Instead say that you will not debate a hater.
I would not be surprised if the eventual Democratic nominee actually did that.
If they do that Trump should respond by debating the Libertarian candidate without them.
If they do that Melania needs to start looking for a good high school in the capitol region for Barron because they’ll be here for awhile.
On pure debate skills, the Democrats in 2020 have a fairly limited group at the ‘A-level’. I do agree that Warren might be fairly clever and capable, but it’s hard to imagine her beating Trump in a debate.
Now, if this were just pure entertainment....I would like to see a Trump-Marianne Williamson debate. I think he’d try to be gracious to her for three minutes before he started to dismantle her arguments.
Comedy gold would be either Bernie Sanders or Pete Buttigieg.
He’d probably show up with a DNA test and a dozen Indian chiefs.
They can’t face the issues of our time, because they’re on the wrong side of all of them.
So they make up fantasy issues and roleplay as messiahs.
Agreed.... if any of the debates are legit
I figure the rabid media will do all it can to make Trump look bad
Who cares or even watches debates these days???
The powers that be will probably get a “third party” candidate to be at the debate that will gang up on Trump. He could handle it though. But the left will try anything.
I do not believe there will even be a Repub Dem debate. We lived without them before.
“... warren. President Trump would destroy that squaw”
Someone posted an image of a car he had just bought, and named “Elizabeth Warren”. It’s a white Cherokee. Funny if Trump could work that in somehow — maybe drive to the debate in one if it could be secured in some way.
Buttigieg and Biden would be their strongest performers. Biden has A LOT to answer for, and Buttigieg is down in the polls. This is pretty much Buttigieg’s only skill and it ain’t going to carry the day, whatever the deep pockets and dark money say.
Warren is probably their ableist debater after that, but the stage would also emphasize what a weak leadership choice she’d be, as does her record in the Senate.
Some of these guys wouldn’t actually be terrible debaters, but the proggies have forced them onto public record with a whole laundry list of insane stuff, and that’s going to cost them. They truly are the party of the tone deaf globalist elite.
If they do that Trump should hire a liberal , give them the questions and have a fake debate. I bet many GOP haters would do it.
I can picture Sleepy Joe bumbling his way thru a debate to the amusement of the audience. I can also picture a near-hysterical Warren, arms flailing, eyes bugging out, lecturing the audience on the evils of “white privilege” or some other nonsense. I can picture Robert O’Rourk jumping up on his lectern and screaming “racism” while he does his best imitation of a windmill in a windstorm.
