Presidential hopeful Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) said during Wednesday nights Democratic presidential debate that she can address institutional racism by explaining white privilege to women in the suburbs.
I can explain it to white women in the suburbs, Gillibrand said on the debate stage.
When their son is walking down the street with a bag of M&Ms in his pocket, wearing a hoodie, his whiteness is what protects him from not being shot.
The New York senator was addressing racial injustice issues when she made the remarks.
I dont believe that its the responsibility of Cory and Kamala to be the only voice that takes on these issues of institutional racism, she said about Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Kamala Harris (D-CA), both of whom are black.

That is the same response I had; how is this clown a senator?
Garbage In, Garbage Out. Stupid voters.
Thank you for taking the time to post that. Excellent observations. Yes, “In real life, EVERYONE has to make concessions small and large to make allowances to the perception of others in society.” The parallels you draw with your baseball caps are spot on.
You are a good, wise parent. Your post puts the lie to the panderings and grovelings of politicians whose concerns are only for themselves and not the children, who are merely props in the power grab.
What about the white men? They understand?
WOW. What a disgrace. She should be run out of office for that statement.
I can explain it to white women in the suburbs .”
Does this person know that many suburban neighborhoods in this country are a mixture of families/people of all races?
We all live together now, Kristin (unlike you and Hillary in all likelihood). No need to lecture us in any way, shape or form about our neighbors with differing skin colors.
She was appointed to fill out Hill-liar-y's term when Clinton ascended to Secretary of State under nObama. And getting a Democrat, any Democrat, elected to a state office in New York is a piece of cheesecake. Add the power of incumbency and she probably didn't have to spend much time, effort or money on the campaign.
Haha Awesome!!!
My sons white privilege comes from being in school all day, not driving a stolen vehicle, not in possession of a stolen firearm, not hanging out on a corner selling meth. Crazy kid.”””
MY “WHITE PRIVILEGE”==
Raised on Wisconsin dairy farm & did all the same chores my brothers did-—BEFORE we ate meals & got ready for school.
Went to a ONE ROOM grade school- with the 2 outhouses behind the school building. 8 grades-—14 kids-—1 teacher with 2 years of college education. Would NOT trade that basic education for ANYTHING offered today. Not by a LONG SHOT.
Finished high school with honor roll status-—by doing my homework & not missing classes. Still had chores at farm—cows-horses-chickens-sheep-hogs & purebred Labradors.
Was RECRUITED by Kroger when a senior in high school. Worked at well known companies like Kroger & Oscar Mayer & Snap-On & American Motors & Universal Studios doing accounting work.
Attended night school to take more accounting classes to strengthen my skills & pave the way for my own advancement. Got 4.0 in ALL of my classes....but didn’t have a social life for 4 years or so. This was NIGHT SCHOOL—after working 5-6 days a week on job. Ratio for Accounting homework= 5 hours of homework for every hour in class. I had 6 hours of night classes in 2 nights every week.
Watched as 2 different UNQUALIFIED black women got jobs I was qualified for. I Quit & went elsewhere. Neither of them lasted 6 months trying to tap dance their way thru the daily work load with accuracy.
Sold Auto parts & worked in the SHOP at a tire store. Often worked 2 jobs, one being part time at night. One job was in a machine shop-—and I was working IN THE SHOP, grinding & polishing cylinder heads for performance.
Bought my first house in May of 1966 when I was earning about $6 an hour. House payment = P I T I= $1 more than my unfurnished apartment. Had that house for 29 years.
Became self employed in 1980 & found my own clients. Still doing bookkeeping for one client-—now OVER 49 years. Both of us “still truckin’”. Grateful for his LOYALTY.
Bought 2nd house in 1989 & moved into it in May of 1993, along with my 4 horses, truck, 2 cars & horse trailer-—all of which I bought with my own earnings.
Spent over 2 1/2 years clearing brush-removing dead & dying trees- and removing ‘widow maker’ dead branches high in trees. Had over 7 years of firewood for my efforts. Wore out 7 chains on my Stihl chainsaw & kept them for reminders....
Sold 2nd house in Nov 2004 & bought current property free & clear. Came here with 6 horses & truck, station wagon & 2 trailers. Built up this property from only house, power, well & septic.
One vehicle is 40 years old, with over 215,000 miles on it. The truck is 43 years old, with over 348,000 miles on it. NEVER had a cell phone or the costs attached to that. Don’t have fancy jewelry or clothes.
BUT-—MY current taxes are paid ahead of time & I only owe for credit cards.
I have NEVER been arrested.
Never drove a car that wasn’t registered AND insured.
I don’t have stolen weapons.
NEVER did drugs of any kind. Booted a guy out of my house for bringing Marijuana into it. Never spoke to him or his friend who set up the ‘date’ again.
Never smoked.
Quit drinking in March of 1988 & was ONLY a social drinker.
THAT IS MY WHITE PRIVILEGE.....
I am now almost 80 & -—BTW-—I am female and single. I run this ranch without help.
SOOOO- the ‘Senator” can keep her discourse to herself. She hasn’t done 1/10th of what I have done.
HOME by midnight? or 10 PM?
Bedtime in my family upbringing was 9:30 PM until we were seniors in high school, then bedtime was 10 PM.
IF we were out late, it was at a football game or a band event, on a school bus.
I guess she’s on to us. She’s finally broken the code of the term NeighborHOOD WATCH. How long before they figure out what Dead end Street really means??
I raised kids and we had no bedtime once they entered high school....it worked out quite well.
When you put M&Ms in your pocket they are mushy when you eat them.
I keep my M&Ms in the Refrigerator. I like them crunchy.
Unfortunately, I getting too old to carry around a Refrigerator.
It was skittles you silly girl.
Ask her how many of Keith Raniere’s women had “white privilege”...
