Wake up, Democrats. Trump is on something of a roll.
The Washington Post ^ | July 11, 2019 | David Ignatius

The agonizing fact for Democrats this summer is that President Trump appears to be gaining ground on domestic and foreign policy, while his potential challengers are quarreling and mostly spinning their wheels.

Trump is taunting allies and defying Congress — and seemingly getting away with it. He isn’t just rewriting the political rulebook, he’s tossing it aside. And the painful fact is that the Democrats haven’t figured out a way to stop his forward momentum, even when they believe it’s taking the country over a cliff.

Trump remains a divisive and unpopular leader who is vulnerable in 2020. But a Post-ABC News poll released last week was the clearest warning yet for Democrats that Trump is gaining strength beyond his core base of support.

Trump’s approval rating has risen 5 points since April, to 44 percent, according to the survey. His disapproval rating is 53 percent, but his support is still the highest he’s had as president. The RealClearPolitics average of major polls shows a similar trend.

Ha! I think it's going to be a Rat Wipeout like McGovern vs. Nixon or Reagan vs. Mondale.

And, the reasons for the Rat Wipeout are only just beginning.
POTUS isn’t standing on his laurels, he’s going to keep them rocked off their feet, increasingly, with some real troubles coming. Can’t wait, either.

Trump would probably be doing even better if so many people weren’t turned off by his crass behavior. Commentator Steven Rattner recently noted the gap between the 56 percent predicted support for an incumbent with this record, as modeled by Yale economist Ray Fair, and Trump’s much lower actual support in polls.

Trump’s best issue is the economy. Last week’s employment report showed sharp job growth, led by manufacturing. There are caveats: The distribution of rewards is grossly unequal, and growth has been pumped by deficit spending”

That’s cute.

Quantitative easing, or giving away money and easing qualifications for loans was a such a Yuge success...

Finding out what Trump will do next makes it worth getting up in the morning.

Even if true (and I doubt it) I have learned that popularity does not translate into being elected President.

Remove California and New York and then ask what is President’s approval rating?

The media know that a candidate has to appeal to a wide cross section of Americans in order to be elected but they don’t like it which is why they want to do away with the electoral college.

Currently Democrats are all appealing to the exact same base while at the same time antagonizing the rest of America.

The Democrats have so poisoned the 2020 election I doubt any Democrat once nominated can move back to the center required to get the mushy middle’s votes.

:D

Yes, and Bob Barr and the boys are no slouches, according to reports, at balancing the books on rendering Justice, for a change. In contrast to Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch the Coup Maker (and who has been so quiet she may have by now turned State’s Evidence to spare herself).

Here’s how fragile the democratic party is,

Quit talking about any other democratic candidate, focus on Bernie and keep ripping the scab off the wound they gave him when he sought the party’s nomination.....

Anytime a discussion pops up about democratic candidates, quickly respond with

“Bernie will never get past the nomination process, THEY simply won’t allow it”

“Loretta Lynch the Coup Maker”

I had to think about that one. I think I know what you mean, and it will be interesting see what fate (Justice) has in store for her.

Stupid article based on stupid assumptions: the only cliff they see this country going over is the one where they can’t scare people into giving them back all the power. For Democrats it is all about power and money. Nothing else.

The poll numbers are adults when you make It likely voters we are in Mondale territory. But after the circular firing squad maybe even better. Glad the rats can’t see their own shadows

“Something of a roll”. Ignatious is an idiot. Pres. Trump has turned both flanks and is pounding at their center. Pelosi has open rebellion in her caucus and traditional allies are weakening.

Let's see... Trump fulfills campaign promises and goes forward with the will of the people and promotion of Constitutional government, the left howls and throws poop like a bunch of monkeys, therefore Trump is divisive. Yeah. Right.

How can the Democrats stop the momentum? They cant because there is no good solution to do it. Generally speaking the policies Trump advocates are great for the country. To combat Trump Democrats literally need to root for failure, an unenviable position for sure. The media of course does their part but as ratings tell us ,lots of people are realizing the press are just arms of the Democratic party and wont necessarily tell us all the truth. I mean look at the optics for Joe Biden when he says the first thing hell do is raise taxes?! Its very easy to prove the tax cuts helped everyone rich and poor..its more apparent everyday. Yet all the democrats can say is...... Russia. And that is their current and only strategy for stopping Trumps momentum...and thats been going on for two plus years and obviously not been very effective. Trump will take the centrists come election day and crush who ever he runs against. The Dems may very well lose the house. Its gonna be great...

Even on FR, where yesterday was a free-for-all of Trump bashing, the stock market hitting 27,000 made no impact. I noticed!
