In the House of Representatives the apparently frustrated Democratic congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, had one question for the leadership of her party: when would they impeach Donald Trump?
“The thing that we’re struggling with is that we don’t know what we’re waiting for in terms of a caucus. And folks that are saying, ‘No, not yet. Not yet.’ OK – accepting that that’s your position, what are you waiting for?” the New York socialist said to reporters this week. “Are you waiting for some kind of revelation?"
That’s a question a growing number of Democrats are asking. Dozens of Democrats on Capitol Hill, including 2020 hopefuls such as Elizabeth Warren, have called for impeachment proceedings in the wake of the special counsel Robert Mueller’s damning report into Russia interference in the 2016 election, which also outlined numerous instances of obstruction of justice on the part of the president.
Nor is it just leftwing firebrands like Ocasio-Cortez. One notable recent convert to the impeachment cause was California congresswoman Katie Porter, who announced her support by admitting: “I didn’t come to Congress to impeach the president.” But Porter added: “When faced with a crisis of this magnitude, I cannot with a clean conscience ignore my duty to defend the constitution.” Porter’s support struck a chord in Washington because, as the representative of a swing district, her announcement carried personal political risk. Most others who have called for impeachment hail from safely blue districts. Only one Republican – Michigan congressman Justin Amash – has signed up to the cause.

She has a good point. The DEMs are accusing the president of criminal conduct. What is the justification for not formally exploring that accusation with an eye on impeachment if he’s as bad as they claim?

They are waiting for grounds for impeachment! They are still hopong that all their investigatioms will turn something up. I wonder if Barr starts charging people whether that will be the thing to kick them off. Backed into a corner they may see impeachment as a way of taking the public’s attention away.

Oh I beg to differ. They are all leftards. They’ve just designated AOC to be the lightening rod.
They haven't even opened an impeachment inquiry. At the same time, they are accusing Trump of obstruction of justice, the same thing Clinton was impeached for. So just open the impeachment investigation, seed it with the Mueller report, draft and vote on articles of impeachment already.
There is a disconnect between their accusation and their inaction.
Not to say the accusation has merit, but if they are going to make it and NOT act on it, it shows either that the accusation is taken in bad faith, or that they don't intend to act against a president who has committed (what they call) a serious crime.
Offer that woman a chance to show her real mettle. Offer to debate her with one of our leaders. Pence. He’s got the time. She’d decline because he’d eat her up. Ok so do it where her looks stand out. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. How about the other Sarah?

I suspect there’s another split - those who want to impeach now for the theater and those who want to wait until closer to the election to try to turn that. Both parties know the grounds are nonexistent, but the idea isn’t to remove from office because they know they don’t have the votes for that, it’s to damage Trump as much as possible. The real problem comes if they don’t even have the votes to impeach at all, which appears to be the case at the moment.

Since there is no crime and nothing to be reveled there is obviously no reason to delay an impeachment of Trump. Since it would look to a large segment of the voting population as a purely political act with zero possibility of affecting Trump’s term in office no matter when it is conducted, what is the point in waiting?

They are waiting for a tangible reason, except there isn’t any.
They all - especially AOC - have to specify just what the charges would be...no notes - just off the top of their itty bitty brains. What has he done what meets the requirement of
~~~treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors~~~. More than words you slugs, get specific. You can’t do it, can you? My word - so much talk and so little brain activity.
Someone needs to come up with some startling revelations this week while everyone is out of town. Make them scurry back to DC....Hopefully Barr isn’t taking time off and can drop some bombs.
