BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - President Donald Trump will make his second appearance in South Mississippi. This time, its for a rally in support of incumbent candidate Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, and preparations are a little more intense this time around.
While the Secret Service and White House are in charge, Executive Director of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum Matt McDonnell and his team have to do the leg work.
Its definitely not something we encounter on a frequent basis, he said.
McDonnell went through a similar process in 2016 when Trump appeared as a candidate, but things have changed, and the intensity is higher.
So, not the same footprint, not the same protocol, he said. A lot different now that hes the president of the United States. ... We have to go back and rethink what weve done in the past, and then be able to adapt to what their needs are today.
Its the kind of rare event that gets him and his team excited.
Any time you can get a sitting president in your building, no matter what party they are, thats a big-time event, and Im mighty proud that we are able to host this president," he said.
Security protocols are in place to protect everyone, including protestors expected to gather on the south side of U.S. 90.
Come out, speak your mind, McDonnell said. Thats your public right to do so, and we respect that. But we just ask you do that in the fashion that the City of Biloxi and secret service lays out.
For those attending the rally, there will be only two entrances to the coliseum grounds for traffic and one for those entering the building.

Of course, security will be tight.
If people will come a little bit early, yes, I do anticipate it running smoothly, McDonnell said. If they wait to come at 5 oclock thinking theyre going to just drive in, park and walk in, thats going to become an issue.
First responders will be on duty for traffic flow as well as security, safety and first-aid services.
Its an honor for all the first responders to be involved in an event like this, said Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan. We take this very seriously, and we want a smooth, safe event. So, we will be doing everything we can to work with one another.
Today, CNN wrote a noxious political hit piece on the Republican Senate candidate.
The election is Tuesday, so I assume the rest of the Hard Left MSM is piling on, too.
The MSM destroyed Judge Moore in Alabama about a year ago, and the GOP did nothing to stop it.
Until we start seriously fighting back, they will keep trying to destroy our candidates.
The gop was complicit in the take down of Roy Moore.
The GOP fights the dem. media for every seat.
Live coverage on your computer....
Roy Moore has no charisma to win statewide elections.
The entire GOPe was complicit in attempting to destroy candidate Trump during primaries. But he overcame that with skill, likability, charisma, hard work (100+ rallies all over the country). Roy Moore lacked all those qualities.

Roy moore is a good man and was not wanted anywhere near DC.
Correct, Roy Moore is a very good man, just does not have the political skills, charisma, and ability to be likable (like president Trump) to win state-wide elections. It would be smart for republican voters to stay away from such candidates in state-wide elections.
Losing elections means losing all power to effect any change favorable to the conservative agenda. Follow president Reagan’s advice, and nominate candidates who are most electable from the list.
The people of Alabama liked him just fine.He won his races up till the gope went against him with all the false allegations. Not everybody has the charisma(nobody does)like President Trump but as far as a conservative Jurist there were none better than Roy Moore. His military service was first rate and he is a good Christian man.His history of standing for the constitution is well documented and the left viewed him as a threat and had him removed as CJ of the alabama supreme court. He was reelected to the same position a few years later. The hatchet job by the fags in the gope will not be forgotten.
I can agree with everything you said, but point remains...
which is Roy Moore did not possess the political skills and ability to communicate with voters, to OVERCOME tactics by the GOP elites.
I bet that if he runs for his old postion on the ASC he would win it walking away.
