Don’t look at me, I didn’t write it :)
Just like you can call yourself Jewish and yet vote 70/30 for abortion each election (a vote for a dem is a vote for abortion), you can call yourself Christian or in my case Catholic, but it’s JUST A WORD!!
I could say I’m black. That doesn’t make it so.
Of course we all offend God sometimes because we are human.
But when you SYSTEMATICALLY slap him in the proverbial face, then you ARE NOT CHRISTIAN or JEWISH.
You are a disciple of satan, fighting tooth and nail against good men and the right to life for all, even the unborn.
It means to ask God to forgive your sins and for you to forgive those that sin against you.
It is a central tenet of the Christian faith.
Look at Matthew 6:14-15 and Mark 11:25-26. These words are not often mentioned after the model prayer we all know.
I'm pretty sure that its ok for us to insist that they "sin no more".
Punctuation matters. Generally there is a comma. “forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.” Or, “Forgive us, while at the same time we forgive others.” Without the comma it becomes “Forgive us in the same manner as we forgive others.” My wife jokes that she really emphasizes the comma. If you are like me, my forgiveness of others is too often half hearted and begrudging.
The student group for English majors in the local college were selling t-shirts. “Commas can kill. ‘Let’s eat Grandma’ ‘Let’s eat, Grandma’”
What does it mean to “forgive”?
Hard to ask for forgiveness if you aren’t willing to tender it....it’s a spiritual concept...pray for clarification.
