President Trumps fight for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is breaking up the Never Trump coalition of GOP leaders and pundits, many who are now uniting behind the president in advance of Saturdays Senate confirmation vote.
Rocked by the wall of Democratic opposition no matter what evidence supporting Kavanaugh is presented and impressed with Trumps solid backing amid a brutal media attack, Never Trumpers are abandoning their opposition in a show of support for the man they once mocked.
One famous Never Trumper even told Secrets that Trumps unwavering support for Kavanaugh, a long-time public servant who worked for former President George W. Bush, himself in the Never Trump community, plans to vote for reelection.
Nationally syndicated conservative influencer Erick Erickson told Secrets, For the first time I see myself voting for Trump in 2020. And it has a lot to do with Kavanaugh. Hes not the only reason, but hes definitely the straw that broke the camels back.(continued)

I’m usually around... and often reading your posts. Maybe I’m just not posting as much. Spending time watching baseball playoffs.
Good for you. I wish I could refrain from posting!
As far as Horowitz is concerned, I am just old enough to have known about him and what he did, said, and wrote, in REAL TIME. I was, and still am, a RABID anti-Commie and a CONSERVATIVE, back then, saw and heard, with my own eyes and ears, what was going on in the late '60s/early '70s, in NYC. It's truly SEARED in my brain and soul and hell yes, I can tell you the year/s, where I was, what I was wearing, and who I was with, if I was with anyone, and what I said to others and what they said to me...WORD FOR WORD, still.
It's really not easy to get over the above and/or forgive those responsible for it and what was built upon it all, which is how we got to where we are today.
OTOH...okay, it was a sort of Saul to Paul thing, except NOT through a visitation from GOD nor Jesus.
David probably wouldn’t disagree with your characterization of what he was doing in the past. He may describe it, but he doesn’t excuse it.
Some of the neocons I’ve met on the other hand are just fine with their personal history. Seem to think that where it conflicts with conservatives, it’s conservatives who were and are wrong.
Yes, Horowitz is a BRILLIANT writer, I buy and enjoy his books; however, my blood still boils, today, when I remember what it was like, in Manhattan in those crazed days of bombings, murders, and being hassled in the Village, Central Park, and yes, my own neighborhood.
Thank God for Trump!
Who are you rooting for?
And I'll willingly admit that my reaction to these people is a very personal and an emotional one.
Still and all, I do buy and read Horowit's books and read his site on line, so I'm not completely devoid of reason and intellect, where he is concerned.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our great POTUS Donald J Trump. He has shown the GOP true leadership and courage.
He has shown many of the quivering spineless senators how to find their own courage.
Donald Trump is a great man and a great president.
Being a bit older than you, I was probably more aware of who was doing & saying & writing what and when. And I don't think that you were faced with this crap, on a regular basis, as I was. If I'm wrong/mistaken, I'm sure you'll tell me. :-)
As a libertarian leaning Agnostic who favors legalization of pot and could live with abortion with increased restrictions (eg banning later term abortions, waiting periods, mandatory counseling etc etc).....that’s the big difference between the Right and the Left today. Those of us on the Right are not homogeneous. We disagree with each other sometimes over certain issues. We can debate each other and disagree sometimes without needing to trash each other.
Not so on the Left. There is a received orthodoxy and if you deviate in the slightest, you will be cast out as a heretic. No dissent is to be tolerated. Obtain power at any cost. Live and let live? To hell with that! We must have power over everyone and every thing. Submit to our Will! Or else......
They are the uncool authoritarian, puritanical, busybody fascists. Not us. We’re perfectly happy to let you do your thing so long as you do not harm others and you leave us alone.
With the Angels not in it I’m mostly just happy to see exciting games... I was hoping for Oakland to go farther but they’re done... Bud Black is an old Angel coach so I’m cheering for his Rockies right now, over the Brewers. I’m ok if Houston gets to the WS. I’m eager to see the Yanks and Red Sox duke it out. I’m guessing you’re a Yankee fan, being in New York.
I grew up being a BIG Giants fan, but they left me. :-(
Then I became a METS and Yankees fan.
“I’m in Ct., but as a born and bred New Yorker, yes, I am a BIG Yankees fan and I too can’t wait to see us beat the damned Red Sox. “

SO SOX! :-)

Horowitz had nothing to do with the Greenwich Village bombing and was long gone from New York by the 60s - in London and Berkeley by then. The thing about Horowitz - like Jane Fonda - is that both of them were in their 30s by the radical 60s when all the rest were “kids”.
Twitter is a GIFT from God.
President Trump's choice of Brett Kavanaugh and the rabid unhinged attacks of the Democrat Harpies have outed a number of "conservatives" who were hiding under a "Republican NeverTrump" label.
Bret Stephens, who famously wished punishment on Trump voters before the 2016 election, threw away his NeverTrump jersey to come out in support of Kavanaugh and his protector, Trump.
Benjamin Wittes, Jennifer Rubin, Tom Nichols, Rick Wilson, Steve Schmidt, and Nicolle Wallace all came out against Brett Kavanaugh on Twitter.
Their cover is blown - they're Democrats.
GO YANKEES; BEAT BOSTON! :-)
A big chunk of Republican “Never Trumpers” are Bush family partisans.
As staff Secretary to President George W. Bush for three years, Kavanaugh handled nearly every piece of paper that touched the President’s desk. He was one of the most important gatekeepers to the President. The whole Bush network worked with Kavanaugh, through many of their most trying times - it must feel like they have been to war together.
Emotionally, they really have to feel that Trump is one of them now. Not only has he promoted one of them to a pinnacle position - he has gone to war on their behalf, and proven himself to be a hero for them.
This has been the kind of political fight that would have sent them fleeing for cover - but General Trump charged into the face of their feared enemy, and won for them.
Winning hearts and minds.
