Hawaii Gov. David Ige is facing a tough Democratic primary Saturday night -- and January’s false missile alert could be a deciding factor in voters’ minds.
Ige faces a primary challenge from Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, and she is using the January false alarm as a key campaign issue -- particularly the fact that it took 38 minutes to correct the alert.
Officials mistakenly sent an a warning of an imminent missile attack, promising “THIS IS NOT A DRILL,” to cellphones, radios and televisions on January 13. The move sparked panic across the state before officials corrected it, especially because it was at a time of heightened tensions between the U.S. and North Korea.
Ige was partly blamed for the error and took responsibility for it, but also pointed to human error as the ultimate cause for the chaos....

Hawaii keeps electing one buffoon Communist Democrat Governor after another and expecting competence. We should’ve kept the bases and cut them loose 60 years ago.

I used to play tennis with a group of Filipinos. They are wonderful guys who all served in the US Navy, but I never learned who they favored in Presidential races. They kept their politics private.
Worked with many Filipinos for years.
They vote D and like big gubmit, esp the jobs and entitlements.
The sheer size of the Philippines would’ve prevented their statehood. With 100 million people, they’d have been entitled to 1/3rd the membership of Congress (although adjusted, would be 1/4th as the population of the U.S. would exceed 400m) or about 145 House members, most of them representing breathtakingly poverty-stricken areas and many of those would be Mohammadan Communists.
We’re fortunate the Filipinos wanted independence.
The South wanted Cuba to be a slave state. Of course, with the politics there, had Fidel been around if it had been made a state, he’d have just been another Democrat political boss, probably running the state from his lifetime Senate sinecure until going out feet first.
Yes, the Knights of the Golden Circle desired Cuba as another slave state but Spain still held possession of her when that idea was floated and Cuba wasn’t to become US territory until near the turn of the century, 47 years after the civil war broke out. The Philippines is only 5.5% Muslim versus 80.5% Roman Catholic and 10.8% Protestant.

I work in Emergency Management. I have the codes to trigger mass notifications. The “events” are generally pre-written. For example, the template for a Mass Casualty Incident is already written by with tags that say [location] [type].
You have to go through a process that says...”Do you really want to do this? (More than xxxx recipients.)”. You have to say yes at least three times and the default is “No.”
I am not suggesting Q was right.

Hillary, Obama and others were there indeed and they knew the “missile” launch would not make it to Oahu as the device was at the edge of it’s design range and not from NK as that is too far from start to finish for a TLBM. No record at all that the Norks have ever successfully launched an ICBM as we know it
