In the most astonishingly bone-headed move since nominating Mitt Romney for President, the GOP establishment spent major cash to help elect Democrat Conor Lamb in last nights highly contested PA-18 special election.
Yes, you read that right. Failed Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan and his Congressional Leadership Fund pushed a Democrat to victory over a Republican with direct mail advertising touting support for our Second Amendment Rights.
Ill repeat that again. A so-called GOP PAC led by Paul Ryan spent thousands of dollars in a direct mail campaign to convince voters that Conor Lamb was a conservative who would protect Americans gun rights in Congress.

He should have NEVER been re-elected as Speaker.
Every one of those House members who voted for him, a pox on ur house!!!
I loathe Ryan.
Yep
It was NOT the GOP PAC’s intention to elect Lamb with the mailer they put out about his “2nd amendment” positions, but it was their boneheaded stupidity in that tight race to not realize their message COULD play either way on election night; not just discouraging Dims that Lamb was not with them, but also suggesting to GOP voters that Lamp was really O.K.
It was a stupid move and it backfired and likely gave Lamb just the few GOP votes needed to bring the narrow victory to Lamb.
Intentional no. Very, very stupid yes.
Good point.
RINOs.
FWIW, WaPo says the same: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2018/03/01/republican-super-pac-warns-democratic-voters-that-their-candidate-supports-gun-rights
And who is “Congressional Leadership Fund”?
What the hell? This is my district and I’m praying for a recount.
A backstabber, along with his pal Mitt, to us, but a beloved Badger in his WI
Very few understand, and many don’t want to understand.
“The Congressional Leadership Fund is a super PAC exclusively dedicated to protecting and strengthening the Republican Majority in the House of Representatives.”
What a spin. That’s a coverup by the WP for Paul Ryan, the elite, because both hate flyover country and want a new world order.
Go find one of these mailings and report back whether it actually says “Congressional Leadership Fund” ASAP.

Just skimmed the WP piece.
Now I get it.
It was _supposed_ to be a “backhanded complement” piece, sent to Democrat voters to _repel_ them from their candidate.
Massive fail: anti-gun Democrats weren’t going to _not_ vote for their candidate, so dismissed the junk mail ... but pro-gun Democrats, being far more likely to cross over or not vote, saw it as a good reason to vote for Lamb after all.
Problem is: they paid for a mailing which convinced pro-gun Democrats to vote for a Democrat, at a time that they (at least enough to tip the election) would have either likely not voted for what typically would be an anti-gun Dem, or would have crossed over and voted R instead.
It was an interesting attempt at scaring anti-gun Democrats away from Lamb.
Instead, it encouraged pro-gun Democrats to vote _for_ Lamb.
Massive fail.
At least one other person on this thread gets it.
