Has the ground shifted in the biggest election of this off-year with less than two weeks to go? Until this month, Republican candidate Ed Gillespie consistently trailed in polls for the Virginia gubernatorial election to Democrat Ralph Northam. Gillespie scored a one-point edge in a mid-month Monmouth poll, but now shows a commanding eight-point lead in a Hampton University survey:

I wonder if Uranium-Dossiergate has had some effect.
Unless every country voter is coming out, there is not to much chance that a Democrat can lose VA. But it could happen based on low turnout of Democrats who don’t even know there is an election.
...and also bad news for the Bloomberg gun grabbers.
I remember when Virginia was solid Red
I remember when CA voted Reagan for President...twice.
I remember when Virginia was solid Red

I do, too, that was before the George W Bush administration that Gillespie was part of that refused to enforce the laws and borders.
Before W. was President Virginia was English speaking and low crime.
Democrats are toxic given their year long Russianhysteria and Trump impeachment vitriol, only to have been exposed for their own nefarious activities. And the democrat media complex not reporting is a sure sign this is significant.
Virginia will be solid red again, within 15 years.
There is a huge veterans preference in federal hiring. In my experience, well over 2/3 of new federal hires are veterans.
This is going to dramatically shift the politics of the federal workforce over the next 10-20 years. Without huge super majorities for the Democrats in the DC area, Virginia will return to the red column.
I think Kim Guadagno is going to pull off an upset win in New Jersey, as well.
The polls are telling us in NJ that we might as well not even bother to vote, that Phil Murphy has it in the bag.
I just don’t believe it.
“A Democratic group led by former Attorney General Eric Holder is pumping another $250,000 into the Virginia governor’s race” ..... Dems maybe a little worried, especially with Virginia being a bellwether? If Gillespie does pull off a win, I personally will be surprised.
I lived in California back in those days.
I voted for Ronald Reagan when I lived in California in 1980 and 1984, and so did my family members.
Back in 1980, the election was called for Reagan at around 3:00 PM Pacific time, before my family had even voted.
By the time my kin folk and I arrived at the polls, we knew who won the election. I remember being downright giddy as I arrived at the polling place, and I also remember the lady who signed me in complaining that the networks already had called the election for Reagan (it was about 6:00 PM in the East).
I remember listening to the woman speak, and I had a huge grin on my face knowing that Ronald Reagan has already won the election.
Agree.
This would be a big loss for Dems, which means the media won’t cover it other than locally if a Republican wins.
I was pretty certain TRUMP would win VA but he lost!
We will see! If Ed wins this will really demoralize Democrats! LOL
The problem for news, polls and dems is that the nobody has faith that the MSM or polling companies are truthful any longer.
But, but, but the Fox News generic poll said things are looking bad for Republicans.
I fondly remember voting for George Deukmejian and to give the boot to Rose Bird in 1986.
Right, and then President Reagan signed an amnesty bill which flipped California and New Mexico and made Nevada & Arizona competitive.
And Governor and Senator Pete Wilson!
We’ll see but it’s perfectly logical. They are coming off Mcauliffe as governor and might have democrat fatigue. Gillespie seems to be a moderate type who won’t scare liberals and minorities into voting.
Lots of “blue” states elect republican governors.
