It began as a relatively quiet day in the presidential campaign. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were each holed up with their aides on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, preparing for the second presidential debate, scheduled for Sunday night. Hurricane Matthew, which was churning off the Florida coast, led the Friday-morning newscasts. The Chicago Cubs were beginning a quest for their first World Series title in more than a century. But by midafternoon three separate bombshells, all coming within the span of roughly 90 minutes, threatened to throw the race into chaos.
First, the top intelligence officials of the Obama administration announced their belief that the Russian government was behind the hacking of the Democratic National Committee earlier in the year. Then the Washington Post published published the infamous Access Hollywood tape in which Donald Trump bragged about forcing himself on women. And WikiLeaks dumped its trove of emails from the Clinton campaign, hacked from the account of campaign head John Podesta.
Yahoo News conducted nearly two dozen on-the-record interviews with top officials inside and outside the Clinton and Trump campaigns and the Obama administration, as well as major media figures in Washington, New York and beyond, to produce an exclusive oral history of the wildest 64 hours in modern political history.
The resulting documentary film and online feature present a firsthand account of three pivotal days in the campaign and paint a vivid picture of the behind-the-scenes drama that unfolded inside the Post newsroom, Trump Tower, Clinton campaign headquarters in Brooklyn, Clintons Westchester County, N.Y., hotel, and the debate site in St. Louis.....

I thought he said he *could* force himself on women, not that he *did* force himself on women.

No, what he was saying is that he *didn’t have to* force himself on women.
What he actually said was that women would let him, or anyone with power or money, and it is still true today.

It was never really in doubt once Donald Trump descended that escalator and said he would stand up for America and Americans.
Both parties were preventing us from stopping the illegal alien inundation.
He said he would stop it.
He won on that.
So, Yahoo documented a massive effort by the first communist president and the DNC to invent and spread lies about the people’s choice?
Does that really count as “the wildest 64 hours in modern political history”?
To me, it marks an absolutely egregious abuse of government power.
He didn’t even say he could force himself. He was saying women will allow rich and famous men to do anything, even “grab them by the pussy”.
If they allow it, it isn’t forced, it’s a game they are quite happy to participate in.
DJT was joking and laughing in that tape like a silly schoolboy. The idea that he was being serious is preposterous to any person who heard it.
So Trump was below 40% as the media IGNORED the scandals of Shrillary and focused like myopic nerds on a ten year old private conversation of locker room talk.
Keep it up, media. This Trump Hate is really working for you, isn't it?
He was being silly they were practically rolling on the floor laughing it was so silly and exaggerated. He said he was taking a breath mint in case he started uncontrollably kissing women because they are so beautiful, and the silliness went from there.
The part about trying to seduce a married woman, well that part sounded serious.
Exactly. I think that Hillary stumble and her poor performance on the trail was a crisis and they all knew it. Turn they knew all of Podestas emails were about to be released and were freaking out.
They needed to change the narrative away from the content of those mails.
The lying, bribe-accepting, pizza perversion spirit cooking, one public position and one private position speech, etc.
That’s what they didn’t want to discuss.
I totally, seriously, doubt that any major change of any significant number of voters minds occurred during those 64 hours, no matter what happened during those hours or what the pollsters said at the time.
Correlation is NOT causation. Events, or changed values of variables, that occur in some similar time frame are no proof that said events are a cause of anything, just because they occur in that time frame.
Worth pointing out that in the one-sided Hilary Clinton Bizarro world, everything bad happens to her (Wikileaks) but she only acknowledges the Access Hollywood tape as something that Wikileaks was used to counter. The fact is that Access Hollywood was a banner headline everywhere for at least a week.
Nobody cared about that part. It was the grab em line that went viral. And in that married woman part, he berated himself as acting “like a bitch” and said he failed to get her.
article looks like someone dumped a ton of random 2016 election news articles into a digital bass-o-matic and this is what popped out.
truly this article is an incoherent mess with zero insight to add to truly excellent narratives such as the book “Shattered”.
Exactly right. She was holding that access tape for months. It was her October surprise that was supposed to destroy him.
The only surprise was that nobody cared.
And she never expected to have a republican candidate hit back. That never happens and it completely threw them off.
