Like many Americans, Hillary Clinton initially treated Donald Trump's run for president as a joke.
But the former Democratic candidate remembers the exact moment she began to take Trump seriously.
"It wasn't until I saw him dominate a debate with a crowded field of talented Republican candidates not with brilliant ideas or powerful arguments but with ugly attacks that drew gasps that I realized he might be for real," Clinton wrote in her newly released campaign memoir "What Happened."
It was at the first Republican debate, in August 2015 in Cleveland, that Trump sought to back up the provocative, racially-charged rhetoric on which he launched his candidacy, and where he introduced himself to a national audience that largely viewed his campaign as a sideshow.
On stage with nine other leading GOP candidates, Trump blasted political correctness, famously squabbled with moderator Megyn Kelly, and refused to rule out an independent campaign should he not win the Republican nomination. Many of his comments drew a mixture of raucous applause and loud jeers from the audience.
Two months earlier, Trump announced his bid for the presidency at Trump Tower in New York in a speech that cast Mexican immigrants as rapists and drug dealers....

Was it the day that Trump filled a stadium with 30,000 people and she couldn’t get 30 at a nursing home??
“Hillary Clinton describes the moment she knew Trump was ‘for real’”
1:00AM on election night.
Takes one, to know one.
Every word of this “news” story excerpt reads like an anti-Trump hit piece. Trump got applause? Must be “raucous.” He casts poor little innocent Mexican “immigrants” (oops, forgot that “illegal” part there!) as victims of mean old racist Trump. Trump used “racially charged” language (well, at least according to this nitwit) and ran a “sideshow” of a campaign (why! It’s a miracle how he ever won at ALL... must have been those Russians, huh?).
No idea where this “news report” was going with all this propaganda, because I didn’t want to click to the full article.
We have seen so many excerpts from this book that no one will need to read it nor buy it.

HA HA
The moment she really thought he was "for real" was the moment she realized she'd lost the election.
"The joke, it turned out, was on us."
Indeed.
“I’ll take concede for $200.00, Alex.”
Exactly what I was wondering.
Trump’s roast of Hillary at the Al Smith dinner is something I’ll never forget.
Nope, just Sid Blumenthal, and he loved it!
no kidding. had she listened even a little bit to Bill, she would have had a better shot.
This is obviously her kickoff for 2020.
She is so full of sh*t. The more she lays excuses and comes across as a bitter fool, the more it comes apparent that they were extremely confident,as in the bag, about winning handedly in the election. I believe the cheating was so widespread from coast to coast, that they ran a half hearted campaign with Clinton seemingly near death at times. It was so bizarre and so are the Clintons.
When a person’s 15 minutes of fame just won’t end.
“Was this whole book run past focus groups?”
Good Focus Groups seek the truth in issues that can be complex or simple.
Bad Focus Groups are misleading to make bad choices/losers look like winners.
What bull shit she chose to have him to be one of the possibilities of who she would run against.
In her mind she wanted one of these three to be who she ran against.
1. Trump
2. Cruz
3 Rubio
she instructed her friends in the media to give air time to these candidate rather then the other 14
in fact I bet she was the one that a approved Trump going on Saturday night live.
in her mind it was funny that she chose who won republican primary.
I don’t think that she thought once that she was in danger of losing the Election.
she thought a combination of his negative and the cheating that was going on in the election would make it impossible for him to win.
Praise be to God that she is not our president.
There was some point in the primary period where she showed up twice in some week...to groups which numbered in the dozens at best. I sat there amazed. Her team accomplished screw-up after screw-up like this.
I can’t recall a single Trump event in Feb or Mar (primary period) where Trump didn’t get 500 people minimum to show up. After the convention...they were opening up arenas to a minimum of 2,000 people and on up to 30,000.
Even today in Alabama...if Trump says he’s coming down for 20-minute speech...he’ll still get 30,000 today.
