My Trace colleague Jennifer Mascia pulled some numbers from the Small Arms Survey, which gauges gun stockpiles in the hands of civilians, law enforcement, and militaries around the world, The Traces email blaster writes. She found that with an estimated 270 million firearms owned by everyday Americans, civilians own 70 times more weapons than all police and military services combined. Boldly played sir!

2A is the most important Amendment. The left and Right in America know why. The left just by historical perspective of Stalin,Hitler,Mao etc know the significance. A liberal’s wet dream is an America that resembles the aforementioned barbarians who are now in Hell.
I would think that is a much closer estimate.
And many of them are a lot higher caliber than the .223 that everyone in the press are so afraid of.
Just nonsense. But we do intend to keep them. The DC crowd can just forget about eliminating them.
Charlton Heston said it well. Cold dead hands.
“higher caliber than the .223”
Steel core 7.62x54r will do the job.
Having many more firearms then the gov’t is a good thing, but don’t forget the “A well regulated militia ...” part.
Training, training, training with friends and family.
Training and planning is what will make them effective to thwart any tyrant(s).
Supposedly she wasn’t ready for the grapefruit to the face.
When that day comes our main concern is where to get rid of all the corpses...

It’s an interesting story.

That’s true for small arms. What about crew served weapons, armoured vehicles and aircraft? In a popular revolt it depends on what the military decides to do and whether the troops would obey their officers if they ordered the troops to put down a rebellion. I’d like to think the military would stand aside in a popular revolt but something tells me they would take sides. The question is whose side would they take. A popular rebellion, if from the right would be opposed by the hard left. I could see years of guerilla warfare occurring. I pay it doesn’t occur but sometimes I fantasise about a rebellion that wipes out the left and outlaws socialism and communism in this country forever.
17 Remington will do the job.
But 30-06 will reach much farther and with more impact.
I’ve drooled over the idea of a 50BMG rifle. But it is really foolish (at least now).
It is still legal to own a destructive device, it costs, but can be done.
I’ve always thought it would be fun to own a howitzer.
One of my friends when I lived in NM owned a naval cannon. He had a special carriage built for it. It was so heavy he could not move it on asphalt roads. He shot it from his front yard every 4th of July. He was the local Coroner.
exactly right!
America’s oOunding Fathers specifically understood the need for American citizens to keep and bear arms to prevent another tyrant or dicatorial ruler from taking us over again
We should not kid ourselves that any United States civilian group could prevail in a collision with the United States military.
We prevail against the military because it is populated with United States citizens. I think our fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters would, in the end, disobey orders to wipe out their families and families of their friends.
I just don't think you could get my son to drop ordnance indescriminately on a United States city.
Thanks for the ping!
“legal to own a destructive device’
I always wanted a British 32 pounder mounted properly.
(or a quad .50 for anti-pigeon defense. haha)
The military is for the most part more conservative, freedom loving and patriotic than the general populace.
Its not about to attach the citizens.
“What about crew served weapons, armoured vehicles and aircraft?”
How will aircraft fly without a flight line crew? Who will supply ammo for crew-served weapons when the armories are empty? What makes you think only one side will have armoured vehicles?
My dad was an armorer in WWII. He worked on Quad 50’s.
Awesome weapon.
But one of the rotary cannons is smaller and badder. hee hee
Oh how ISIS must hate the sound of an A10 coming and turning on the cannon.
Good for you.
I think the POS realizes that he motivated millions. I hope he is p o’d at himself.
Don’t forget all the Vets and just think how many have combat experience.
