By most accounts, at the time of the Revolution, 33-45% were Patriots, 20% were Loyalists, and the rest were ballast. If you replace Loyalist with statist, and Patriots with Deplorables, we are right where we started.
Thus, we are NOT on the verge of collapse. In fact, I'd argue we are rather on the ascent. The scary thing for the Dems is that they have to lie to get people to vote for them, while all Trump et al need to do is be the magnetic selves that won them the election.
