Owning the News in 140 Characters
Big League Politics ^ | 7/2/2017 | Larry Schweikart (LS)

Those of you familiar with my columns know that for some time I have argued that Trump’s tweets are anything but “childish reactions” or “temper tantrums” or any other nonsense.

They have been 100% strategic, deliberate, and focused, designed to provide the fake news media with a topic of conversation for a news cycle—or often two or three—while the administration methodically dismantles Barack Obama’s regulative state and erases his very existence from the historical record. Further, I have argued that the nature of the tweets, or the topic, is completely irrelevant and in some cases non-existent (“covfefe”). The point is never, ever the topic of the tweet. The point is the reaction it will provoke from the fake news media that will absorb the news cycle and entirely distract from real policies.

Why in the world would a White House that is succeeding want to distract from its successes?

Ah, grasshopper, you ask a pre-Trump/traditional RINO question.

Trump’s team knew since early in the primary that he would never, ever get fair or objective treatment from the media. Moreover, since early in the primaries, it was clear that even half of the “conservative” media—and ya’ll know who you are—would never really explain Trump’s goals, objectives, or methods but would in knee-jerk fashion bash him so that he couldn’t even count on so-called “friendly” media support.

In other words, the policies would have to be enacted with neither widespread support . . . or criticism. To Team Trump, all you had to do was get the policies in place, and they would speak to the public for themselves, whether in jobs and investment as a result of regulation-cutting and trade policy, meetings with foreign leaders (including both threats and promises), or taking a scythe to the abomination of Deep State

The Donald will be alone in the fight for us.

Rather than the clown-narcissist-demented person his is labeled as, these actions are actually quite selfless. He is setting himself up as a target for ridicule, while his policies, which he knows will be beneficial for the country and the citizenry, are enacted. He's not asking for credit, not yet at least, he just wants to get things done.

******In part, the Rs have actually HURT the Ds by not producing any major legislation giving them something to hate on, to focus on.******

Great strategy for a year or so then people can see the benefits...then the mid-terms kick in.

Follow through is the key after that to get the next four years.

Another solid article, Larry.
While the press-rats chase the cheese, President Trump has free reign to Make AMERICA Great Again.

Trump doesn’t need to get all the credit like the narcissistic obummer did; he just wants results.

Anyone thinking President Trump is acting like a fool is completely missing what is really happening.

My personal candidate for last election was Walker. All that changed the moment Trump came out forcefully against illegal immigration and moved the Overton window right when the rest of the candidates where in full amnesty mode in a GOP primary. I thought we were screwed until Trump made that move.

That's when I moved from Walker to Trump, too. Indeed, it looks like that was the defining moment for a huge number of other Walkerites. From then on Walker's fall and Trump's rise were almost reciprocals of each other.

Great Read.

The fake news people will continue their hyper ventilating until Trump wins re-election. Then they will say he is a lame duck to be ignored.

Meanwhile, Trump keeps winning. In the next budget, Trump needs to demand significant funding for The Wall with a promise to veto appropriate bills that come up short. The Wall must be built for Trump to win re-election.

Oh, and add tariffs on imported steel. Need to take care of the folks in PA.

I moved from Walker to Trump
I initially wanted to like Walker but, for all his credentials as a fighter in WI, on the national stage it just seemed like there was no “there” there. Amazingly unready for prime time.

Right after I set a personal record for donation to candidate - Cruz - Trump had to cancel an event (in Chigago, IIRC) because of (presumably) Bob Creamer’s manipulations. Cruz does the right thing, upon landing at his next stop, by condemning the denial of the right of Trump’s supporters to assemble. But instead of leaving it at that, he went on to criticize Trump.

I was repulsed. I understood why he felt that way - but when you are condemning a violation of my right (or yours) to assemble in support of Trump, I don’t countenance criticism of my choice (or yours) at that moment. I knew at that moment that Cruz was in deep trouble. And that Trump was nearly certain to win the primaries.

Thank you for the heads up.
It is manifestly obvious that Trump opposition is founded on stupidity. Stupidity is a direct result of corruption.
Here was are again.
The stupid corrupt are leading the charge to find corruption where it does not exist. If only they could examine their own lives. They would find the corruption they are seeking. Everyone would be so much happier.
