Trumps, Cruzes to dine at White House on Wednesday

President Donald Trump will sit down for dinner Wednesday night with Sen. Ted Cruz, roughly a year after the two men waged a deeply personal and ugly primary fight for the Republican presidential nomination.

The White House meal comes as the President and the Texas senator potentially find themselves in yet another tense face-off. Trump endeavors to push a health care plan through Congress, but conservatives like Cruz have expressed serious concerns about the trajectory of the repeal and replace effort.

Cruz has not gone as far as other colleagues, such as Sen. Rand Paul and Sen. Mike Lee, in vocally resisting the bill introduced by the House this week, which they say doesn't go far enough. Rather, Cruz has said he's still looking at the legislation but that he doesn't think it will pass the Senate.

"As drafted, I do not believe this bill would pass the United States Senate," the Texas senator told Roll Call....

What isn’t? ;-)

Trump is a master negotiator, what was rolled out yesterday “with full support” for Obamacare replacement was an opening bid. Now the real work begins, and Cruz as the proponent of “repeal every word” ought to be a part of that process. Rand Paul and others as well, “art of the deal”...

There’s also the Supreme Court to consider, and Cruz’s suitability for future openings. Could be a nice quid pro quo.

I reckon that most people will start to figure out how Trump really thinks and works a few months before his second inauguration.

From Shakespeare, the Roman character Brutus is speaking:

There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.

Tides turn. Last year, it was ebb, this year, it is flow.

All I remember is Ted saying any immigration plan that excluded immigrants BY COUNTRY would be Constitutional.

So I'm not betting this is about Obamacare.

Most of that figured that out a long time ago. I find it hard to believe that politicians haven’t figured it out. By throwing something out there everyone, both house and senate, will have a part of this.....as will the American people

Nobody in the GOP is arguing against repealing Obamacare, even Paul Ryan. It’s the fact that so many want to replace it with something and the various train wrecks under discussion that are the points of disagreement.

When I saw the Breitbart pic of Caroline and Catherine playing on Melania’s lap last March, it gave it away. The ensuing playfight was pretty damned convincing, though.

Sure, and particularly in the Senate, which is where Cruz would play an important role. He’s the one saying “repeal every word”, and there are others with more moderate views who need to get together and work out a soution that will meet Trump’s requirements (actually address the root causes of healthcare costs) and that a majority will vote for. Including some Democrats (well Manchin, at least). This is how the process is supposed to work, imagine if the Democrats had actually worked with Republicans in the first place...

Because of the strong R majority, the House can pass most any crap and yet nothing will change unless and until it’s a bill that the Senate will pass and Trump will sign.

Negotiation.

No- last year was real- it was politics, it was dirty on all sides- this year is about grownups setting aside their personal feelings and working together to attempt to make America great again- that’s what adults do-

Especially the “bodyguards rushing Heidi Cruz from the hall before she was attacked by convention delegates” nonsense. It shows that Don Trump was involved with WWE and is a Hollywood producer. It fooled the Democrats, too.

It fooled Robby Mook into believing Cruz’ 8 million primary voters were staying home or voting for Johnson, as he had his own Bernie civil war on his hands. James Carville probably tried his best to convince the campaign that those 8 million would turn out 100% for Trump, but what do old guys know, and those 8 millions were removed from Trump’s colums by her campaign.

Then DJT’s bugs and taps where his staff falsely conceded WI, PA and MI and HRC’s campaign millenials were off to the races implenting the disinfo.

Mwuhahahahahaha.
