Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, the new deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee, suggested Thursday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions deserves jail time for failing to mention his meetings with Russias ambassador during his confirmation hearing in January.
In a statement issued Thursday morning, Ellison asserted that Sessions lied under oath in his Jan. 10 Senate confirmation hearing about the meetings with Kremlins diplomat, Sergey Kislyak.
Since it has now come to light that Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied under oath about meeting with Russian officials during the campaign, we must be entirely clear on one thing: perjury is a felony and may be punishable by prison for up to five years, said Ellison....

Hillary first.
The republicans in Congress are, for the most part, against Trump and his administration as are the democrats...
Just needed to say it.
After Barry, Hillary, Bill and about half of the democrat congress are jailed, we could think about it.
Wonder how many he told....wait till I have more leverage.
Hey Ellison, Thanks for your help!
Considering his current ‘religion’, he will.
These sorry EEckers are about to be very, very sorry if they keep pushing.
I have noticed a slight shift in the anti-Trump rhetoric at MSNBC (though, frankly, I watched very little of that station).
I guess he can share a Cell with Eric Holder who committed Perjury and was found in Contempt of Congress.
Oh wait...
A Donald Trump justice department should immediately investigate many congressional democrats for treason and sedition. Ellison is the first target.
wake up Minnesota what is your problem?
get rid of this evil person.. PRESIDENT TRUMP NEEDS TO USE THE POWER HE HAS AND LET IT BEGIN WITH THE CLINTONS AND WITH HUSSEIN AND BENGHAZI...
PROVE HE LIED UNDER OATH...
AND IF ANYONE GOES TO PRISON OR JAIL...IT WILL BE CLINTONS AND B,HUSSEIN OBAMA.
TIME FOR REPUBLICANS TO STOP PLAYING ‘NICE GUY’ IN TOWN...TIME TO GROW BALLS OR QUIT...
AMERICANS ARE SICK OF BOTH PARTIES..AND TIME FOR A NEW POLITICAL PARTY..
Do. Not. Accept. The. Premise.
There was no *perjury*. The burden is on the questioner to ask precise questions and follow up to elicit examples of _willful_ lying (swearing to a known falsehood while being aware it is false). Perjury refers to facts in specific cases and purposeful lies. There is no case in this instance. The questioning was not aimed at a proven real action. Perjury does not refer to responses to vague questions relative to assumptions or allegations.
Franken asked hypothetical questions relative to assertions, allegations and assumptions. In a real courtroom, the defense would proceed to prove the absence of any past action. Sessions answered truthfully that he had no knowledge of alleged events, could not even clearly define *surrogate*, had been labeled *surrogate* himself in the past and so could not comment. Franken did not follow up because he didn’t realize that was his required reaction and, further, there is no case, no indictment, no facts on which to base a question.
Sessions did not promise recusal. Franken asked a hypothetical about what Sessions would do if a case was brought before DOJ concerning Trump campaign collusion with Russia in the 2016 election. Sessions answered that, in the hypothetical instance of *if*, he would *have* to recuse himself. *Have* is not *will do*. If is not substantive. That is because there is no substance. Meaning no merit.
Franken is not an attorney. He had no idea what he was doing, but he was not deposing a witness or a defendant. Sessions knew all the above and answered truthfully relative to hypothetical attacks with no factual basis. There is no burden to respond to allegations. (Caveat: IANAL but I was educated prior to 1965 and logic was part of the curriculum)
There was no perjury. Perjury is not the issue. Smearing by implication at the hands of an inept TV actor trying to sound like an attorney is the issue. Slander is the issue. Sessions might have a case that Franken slandered him. Franken may even have violated the rules of the Senate, given that Session’s questioned actions took place when both were Senators, not to mention Sessions was simply performing the duties of his job. (I just threw that in here. I have no idea if it is valid.) Repetition of the entire event by the media might even be construed as libel.
Do not fall for it. Reject their premise. At best, it is a wish, not a reality. At worst, it is a lame attempt to perpetrate a character assassination. At its base is the flailing of losers trying to pretend to expertise they lack in the service of gaslighting voters. The target is Trump voters. They believe we are rubes who respond in knee-jerk manner to whatever violation of our supposed morality the progs can concoct.
Anyone who confronts any Trump supporter with such flimsy BS deserves a smile and a “No Thanks.” Remember: the bigger the ahole, the bigger the smile.
Any real lawyers can correct whatever I may have gotten wrong.
This America-hating angry muzzie (excuse the redundancy) needs to go to somalia where he’ll be among his own kind and can act out on his rage.
Hillary next for perjury. Can’t wait.
Too dumb to be in Congress and that is saying a lot!
Farrakhan and David Duke actually get along fairly well.
While the media thinks of Farrakhan as an eccentric black rights activist and Duke as a white supremacist, they both share a common antisemitism deep enough that they sympathetic with Iran. Add the leftist agitators who are backed by Soros and the pro-North Korean weirdo Worker’s World Party / ANSWER groups that Ellison and other Democrats embrace and we have, for all practical purposes, an Iran lobby.
That’s why we have the Progressive Caucus circus against Trump, the Norks, the Farrakhan crowd and the Duke crowd stirring up distractions... and the antiwar folks that are in the Trump admin doing all the leaking.
They do it every time they think Iran is in the crosshairs.
