Is Donald Trump bouncing back in the polls? Second survey shows GOP nominee leading Clinton

Could the Republican be recovering from the scandals that have knocked his numbers?

Donald Trump appears to have bounced back from trailing numbers in the polls, with his first lead in a national poll following the various scandals that have dogged him over the past two weeks.

In the latest national four-way poll by Rasmussen Reports, Trump is now leading Hillary Clinton by two points, with a total of 43 to her 41, while Gary Johnson is on six points and Jill Stein is on two.

A national two-way poll by LA Times/USC tracking has Clinton and Trump on equal footing, which shows a marked difference from polls released at the beginning of the week, in which Clinton was leading Trump by as much as 14 points.

Trump had suffered several setbacks on the campaign trail that were reflected in the polls, including accusations he had not paid certain taxes for 18 years, leaked footage from 2005 that showed him making lewd comments about groping women, and allegations published by The New York Times by women who accused the GOP nominee of assault.

Trump, who has dismissed the allegations as "ludicrous", has since seen election rhetoric revolve around the women's allegations, also addressing them during the second presidential debate and suggesting the topic was distraction from the real issues of the day.

However, national averages still have Clinton in the lead, while the LA Times poll has been questioned, as it often shows Trump leading where others have shown the opposite - due to the different methods it uses to take polling data.

"A lot of readers have noticed that our USC/Los Angeles Times Daybreak tracking poll is different from other polls," explained David Lauter, LA Times/Chicago Tribune Washington Bureau chief last weekend, as he answered questions in a story about why their poll is an outlier.

The poll tracks 3,000 voters each day until election day. The other difference is in the questions it asks.

"The Daybreak poll asks people to estimate, on a scale of 0 to 100, how likely they are to vote for each of the two major candidates," wrote Lauter. The estimates are then combined to make the daily forecast.

However, this poll had the most accurate margin in predicting the Obama win in 2012, so it is not wise to dismiss anything as impossible in the run-up to November.

I want Hillary supporters to think the election is done. It will keep some from voting thinking why bother she has this.

It would be interesting to look at something like meta-polls, if they exist (I’m sure the major political organizations know about them) and notice what are the characteristics of polls that favor Donald vs. those that favor Hillary, and what the influence of those characteristics are.

I believe that old political models aren’t appropriate here. More or less milquetoast figures of past years have given way to a political fight to the death, so to speak. The profile of those who will appear for voting is different now. Factors that might have hurt the more conservative side of the ticket may help it now. We can’t even assume that all or most early voting is going to Democrat efforts.

Commie Carl

The Dem troll,at Murdoch Globalist propaganda that
Pulled the October surprise on GWBush for his buddy Al Gore.

Carl was hysterical when he recycled the old W Bush DU arrest in Maine .
They all knew it from the primary and the Dem troll was peddling the thing for a year.

Carl was the DNC appointed Troll to reintroduce.

A true Dem mole in a Left wing newsroom that voted 86% for Barry the Muslim .

“get out and vote”

I think Republican voters should wait.

While lots of bad claims are being tossed Trump’s way, he does have problems of his own making.

The RNC needs to decide what needs to be done. I favor Trump dropping out and Republicans putting Johnson in the White House.

Hillary is expected to win, something the RNC needs to prevent if it can.

She just makes things up to suit whatever audience is in front of her. If it were a speech in front of military people she would try to portray herself as strong and unwavering in the face of danger, but on a show like Ellen, with her huge female audience, she’ll portray herself as a helpless victim to an evil man. This woman is just a walking fraud.

Irony? Trollism?

This is not a normal election, and much if not most of the old wisdom is going out the window.

Remember, Trump is running against an unscrupulous woman who promises handouts extorted by government force from the highly productive minority.

Things are bad folks.

I’m coming to a conclusion of the opposite. We should vote, even early, in order to leave room for more of a Trumpalanche. I expect to hear stories of queues two blocks long on Election Day.

Can we miss how the audience, lefty as it was, applauded at Donald’s “you’d be in jail” comment?

Finally here is a contest that is laying everything on the line. Even those who did not like Donald had to appreciate that, which is why the moderator was so prim about it.

re: Hillary crying that Trump stalked her during 2nd debate

I predicted before the first debate that Hillary would pull some kind of stunt like this to recreate the Lazio-physically-threatened-me effect.

At the debate with Trump, when Hillary crossed in front of him, entered Trump’s half of the stage, Hillary was proudly smiling, practically patting herself on the back because she was fulfilling the plan. Sure, she was addressing the person with the question on that side, but she didn’t need to walk over there.

She also kept her back to Trump a lot, especially in the beginning. She knew the cameras would make it look like he was hovering over her shoulder.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the LA Times with Hillary up 14 points. That poll traditionally favors Trump and is now tied. An NBC poll had her up NY 14 but has softened some.

That guy is weird, and he acted so strange when I saw him at a republican convention in Orlando several years ago. He was running like hell, darting in and out of groups of people chatting, and his long skinny arms and legs were flailing so much he looked like a clown. He is so thin he looks like a crowbar with eyes. I guess he was afraid of GOP voters.

I just turned on Fox News and the way they are presenting the news today I have no doubt that at this point in time they believe Trump has a real good chance of winning.

And that would take into consideration that they do not have any inside information on Trump that will change the polling direction.
