KENANSVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) Donald Trump made another campaign stop in Eastern North Carolina Tuesday afternoon, this time stumping in Duplin County. With a community just short of 900 people in Kenansville, the town was saturated with visitors for the rally. Nearly 10,000 people lining up to hear about Trumps vision for the country. About 6,000 people packed inside the Duplin County Event Center and say they were not disappointed.
Were going to make our country strong again, says Presidential hopeful Donald Trump. Our military will be greatly enhanced. And were going to make our country safe again. And we are going to make our country great again.
There was no shortage of patriotism at the Trump rally on Tuesday. The Republican candidate for president touched on a number of issues; focusing on jobs, immigration, and the economy.
Were losing our jobs, Trump says. Were losing our taxes. Were losing our money. And its getting worse.
The focus then shifted to African-American voters and issues plaguing inner cities.
Honestly, places like Afghanistan are safer than some of our inner cities, says Trump.
This seemed to resonate with the veterans in the audience, some that have served in war-torn regions. Trump reassured voters at the rally that no matter the concern, he will fix it.
Obviously, somethings wrong, Trump says. But I say, what do you have to lose? Im going to fix it and Im telling you we will get it done.
Many people WNCT caught up with after the rally say they take Trump at his word.
Hes sincere about making America great, says Trump supporter Freddie Stancil. Thats what he means. Hes coming down here to the root of these people who work hard.
A sentiment we continually heard throughout the day from Eastern North Carolina residents is they appreciate Trump stumping in Duplin County, an area that is often overlooked when plotting stops on the campaign trail.
Headline is ambiguous, misleading.
He needs NC AND NH. He should make a really big deal on ending heroin addiction in NH as it is apparently a very serious problem there that no one is addressing head on.
How so?
What a horribly written headline. I guess Katie Harden skipped that class?
He hammered it in the primaries in NH repeatedly. I doubt they forgot.
If it’s a squeaker, he could win without NH or even PA. This would require CO, NV and NM . . . in addition of course to Romney states plus OH and FL.
I’m guessing “ENC” stands for Eastern North Carolina.
Who writes this stuff!
It makes it look like Trump’s campaign stopped resonating with the residents.
“Eats shoots and leaves.” Or is it “Eats, shoots and leaves.” :)
Don’t think you should “loose” your head over it.
No problem, thanks for posting it!
Trump draws ten thousand in an NC town of less than nine hundred today. Hillary drew a few hundred on the UNCG university campus of over eighteen thousand students not a week earlier.
I could write a more cogent, legible headline in my sleep.
I say the same about the local newspaper here in my town. I took one lousy semester of high school journalism and was told one thing always to include in first paragraph. The Five W’s . Who, what, where, when and why. Sometimes I search for the entire article and most of the w’s are missing.
What passes for journalism now is like what my 9 year old granddaughter could write better. Hat tip to you, too.
A community of 900 and he draws 10,000!
Donald Trump, bravely going where no politician has gone before.
Gotta love the mans stamina and drive.
Trump has conquered almost all segments of society, except for the Safe Space, which is the final frontier. :)
Trump is cooler than Shatner.
Ummmm, he's mentioned this about every third sentence for over a year now... tell me you're kidding.
