A senator who says he's not in the "Never Trump" camp but has refused to endorse the GOP presidential nominee declared "some of us need to push back on these statements made by Donald Trump, I think, for the good of the party, for good of the country."
"We need to because somebody making these kind of statements shouldn't become president," Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) told MSNBC. "And I hope that he changes."
The Washington Post reported last month on tension between Trump and Flake at a Capitol Hill meeting of GOP senators. Flake introduced himself as the other senator from Arizona the one who didnt get captured and I want to talk to you about statements like that. ......
(snip)
The senator said he didn't want to speak for his colleagues on what the breaking point in their support for the nominee would be.
"I think the Muslim ban, for me, was one of those lines. His criticism of John McCain and then some of the positions he's taken. Not just the tone and tenor of the campaign, but the positions on immigration, for example. You know, just saying we're going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. We in Arizona need meaningful immigration reform," Flake said. "The statements made about NATO and our security arrangements with the European countries. You know, that -- we can't have that position and move ahead.'
"So, it's not just the tone and tenor of the campaign, it's the positions he's taken and for me, he's gone beyond ......

A Mormon doing Romney bidding. Traitor.
It does seem I have read in history lessons that some of the political foes of bygone former Presidents like Andrew Jackson had all kinds of horrible that emitted from his mouth. I don;t think this riff between Trump and his haters is anything new. LET the process work. Let their be free speech.
He really is a Flake.
Based on his recent record and rhetoric, I’m having trouble remembering why Flake is not a left wing, corporatist fascist and a flake (pun intended).
He is changing the spelling of his name to Flaque to seem more cosmopolitan. Pronounced, Fla-Q
When a person did what Hillary has already done, what's there to debate about, senator?
Another Dem plant in the Republican party is unmasking himself.
Scum of the Earth.
You can believe it or not, but there is absolutely no question that there has been a multiple decade long effort to influence the leadership of the Republican party and ‘plant’ political operatives and the politically malleable in office. Anything you can think of as a way of undermining our system has been thought of by others, and in some cases implemented. Don’t know much about Flake, but he is clearly not looking out for the best interest of the his nominal party - or for his constituents. Interestingly, no one in the democratic party, with the exception of Sanders during the primaries, says anything negative about the criminal they’ve nominated to run for the presidency.
“I think the Muslim ban, for me, was one of those lines”
He is more interested in protecting terrorists, than the American people. Thanks for letting us know.
Very little doubt. Some deep digging is in order, for those who have the capacity.
His last name is so appropriate for him, he’s a major idiot.
This flake is truly the epitome of a flake. What a gomer and a loser. People who vote for him surely must be brain-dead. Way to support the niminee of your parety chosen by the people, you wretch.
Fluck Fake.
Flake has been part of the never Trump group, if not officially!
What’s in the Arizona water ?
Ah , McBlames water boy speaks up. For God’s sake Arizona..jettison both your US SENATORS!
Not one of these filthy RINO douchebags is pushing back on PIAPS. I am done with the GOP. It’s Trump and whatever new party emerges from his revolution from here on out.
