In an email sent out on Wednesday, Bernie 2016 campaign manager Jeff Weaver declared plans to push for a contested convention in Philadelphia in July.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 47% of Likely Democratic Voters believe the Democratic Party should be more like Clinton, but 39% say it should be more like Sanders. He campaigned in OR and California on Tuesday and his victory in West Virginia highlighted anew Clinton's struggles to win over white men and independents - weaknesses Trump wants to exploit in the fall campaign.
The split on the left comes after months of rising tension between Sanders, the Democratic establishment, and Clinton. "The key, of course, for Sanders is a high turnout with young voters, while Clinton's support is generally older, those with a college degree or post-graduate degree and upper-income Democrats", Rex Repass, CEO of Repass Research and director of the MetroNews West Virginia poll, said in part.
"Because we must do everything we can to defeat Trump in November our mission is to win as many pledged delegates as we can between now and June 14th", Weaver wrote. Her campaign, which has not bought television ads since her sweep of four Eastern states on April 26 and hoped to conserve money for the General Election, is going back on the air in Kentucky before its primary next week.
Clinton's connections in New Jersey run deep.
"I don't think they think of the downside of this", said Sen.
Trump is transitioning from the fierce primary battles with the likes of Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio to a general election showdown with Clinton, even amid deep GOP discord about the tycoon. Among voters not affiliated with either political party, 39% think the party should be more like Sanders; 23% say it should be more like Clinton, while 35% say it should be like neither. The delegates were allocated in the March 5 primary, which was won by Sanders. Voters surveyed in the poll said they would be more likely to support Clinton if her choice for vice president was a liberal, while Trump would help his chances if he picked someone experienced in politics and someone who is "consistently" conservative. As polls closed early in the evening, Sanders was ahead of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were neck in neck.
There appears to be one way to get under the skin of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, and that is to play the "Hillary is a victim" card with the Vermont senator.
Trump catching heat in the past week for repeating that attack line on Hillary Clinton.
"The market has driven down the cost of coal, so you have companies going bankrupt", Clinton claimed.
Oh not she didn't.
Half Of West Virginia’s Sanders Fans Would Vote Trump.
The other half will stay home.
That is a pretty high number. I see from the polls that Virginia is in play. GO TRUMP GO
Yes. But why did Kentucky go for her?
We had a family get-together yesterday.
Politics were flying.
My wife's family is about 50% for Hillary, 45% for Trump(mostly on the second amendment).
One hold out was a Bernie fanatic.
I actually agreed whole heartedly with her that Hillary stole KY from Sanders.
I don't normally agree with Sanders on anything, but he WAS robbed there.
There is very little difference between KY and WV on coal.
NO WAY did Hillary carry KY on the level.
that’s why i dont want the feds to touch her until 2017.
but obama is gonna #### us and knock her out of the race and bernie’s under 35 @@@holes, including one of my nephews, who used to be my favorite but now i can’t even think about, will turn out to vote like crazy.
I wonder how Washington will go today. I saw a story that said the Washington GOP had designated 41 of the 44 delegates as Cruz supporters. Looks like Trump needs 61 of the 363 left and should get enough to be immune to the unpledged delegates - unless the idiots actually try to free all delegates to be as chaotic as they want....
It's too bad that at least 2,000 of those "UNCOMMITTED" didn't vote for Bernie instead. I am nearly certain that there is fraud in this state election. The KY. Secretary of State (who oversees elections) is Allison Grimes. The morning after the primary election, she was all over national television programs, gloating about Hillary's 'win' over Bernie in Kentucky, and mocking him. Grimes' father, Jerry Lundergan, just happens to be a lifelong friend of the Clinton family.
