Ted Cruz Might Take The Jon Snow Route With His Campaign
KokoSoup ^

Posted on 05/11/2016 6:45:05 AM PDT by scottycraig

Cruz refuses to call his campaign dead. He said in the interview that he might resurrect his campaign if he sees a path towards victory. However, Cruz’s campaign has left enough supporters into position of power among the Republican delegates. These supporters can have a substantial impact even if Trump is the sole nominee left.

If Cruz really cared for America, he would quit messing around and throw his total support to Trump. He should have done this months ago. The fact that he hasn't reveals him for what he is -- a scheming me-first politician who cares more about himself than the nation.

He has also revealed himself to have extreme lack of judgment. This alone disqualifies him for consideration. Not actually quitting? Glen Beck? Fiorina? Neil Bush? etc... The wisest thing Cruz could have done was to not begin attacking Trump -- which he ended up doing relentlessly -- and position himself to be VP under Trump. He would be an apprentice and then be President for 8 years after Trump.

Cruz is also ungrateful. The ONLY reason his campaign took off was because of Trump. The establishment is so threatened and hateful towards Trump, they were will to at least temporarily would have been their worst nightmare, That's amazing. But it's only because of Trump, and has nothing to do with Cruz.

Furthermore, he used evangelical Christian support only to get a toe-hold in his campaign, and now is causing division among the brethren. Proverbs 6:16-19 says that Lord hates those who sow discord among brethren and this is what Cruz is now doing.

A person's strengths can become his weakness. For some years, Cruz was the most active voice against portions of the establishment agenda. Now that a more effective leader came along, he has been unable to adjust. I pray God opens the eyes of heart, he humbles himself, and is able to play a meaningful role in what needs to happen in America.

If Ted Cruz does that (refuse to endorse) I think he is pulling the plug on his national aspirations. Cruz is essentially hoping his die-hard supporters will not vote Trump (and many may well not). The republicans lose and he comes back 4 years later to get the nomination.

If he goes that route, and I think that is a reasonable interpretation of his intent if he does not endorse and offer himself for a cabinet position, it shows a personal ambition that is kind of scary. I doubt folks will think well of such an action in 4 years should Trump lose and it turns out a significant number of Cruz supporters stayed home.

That said he has just over a month to come around. If he endorses after the final results on June 7th he will negate most of the hard feeling and the affect of his Indiana Tuesday epic rant. Hope he comes to his senses, his implosion will be a loss to the republican party.

Kind of odd, if he had not been power mad he would not be the heir apparent to the VP slot, and likely the Presidential pick in 4 or 8 years (assuming the NBC issue is worked out favorably). Instead his reputation is in ruins (if he continues down this path) and he seemingly is unaware of how much he has damaged himself.

I guess the nomination process does serve a purpose to vet folks.

“His showing in Nebraska and West Virginia shows Trump’s vulnerabilities to a Cruz campaign, and should be enough to get the Cruz team back on track. Cruz finished second in both states.”

You forgot your sarc tag. That was a joke, wasn’t it?

Little tip. Always use quotation marks when pasting another poster’s remarks into a new reply.

It’s not just good form, but also reduces confusion among the readers.

Welcome to the site.

So it is whoever the Party sells to you, regardless of their values. You have your vote, use it. That is all you have. If you want to settle for whomever you think can beat Hillary, go ahead. I will point out however, that emotional appeals and bullying rarely works. It sure didn’t work on you when they attacked Trump because they couldn’t control him. The one thing is that personalities come and go. I will place my trust in the Constitution, and men who respect it because it has been one relative constant. Otherwise, I will Trust God to put in place whom he will. He doesn’t really need my help or yours to do that. The ‘bogeyman attack’ has worked poorly for the Republicans and well for the Democrats in the last two elections. I will not vote for ‘the lesser of two evils’ again. I would ask you if you have ever heard Trump say the word liberty or Constitution? Since I can’t trust personalities I only have my beliefs to fall back on. In the scheme of things, you are only responsible for yourself..by the way, the Obama supporters were just as committed to him as the Trumpsters are for Donald. Who is right ultimately? Try another experimental president because you understand better? You make another mistake in assuming that I am a Cruz supporter. I am not-I think that I was very clear that I am a Constitutional Conservative. You are judging through the lens of personalities. 10 years from npw, you might have a different opinion on Trump based on his record. I, on the other hand will still think the same as a Constitutional Conservative and will judge accordingly.

How many times have you heard Trump say the word constitution or Liberty. I would wager you that I probably have seen more elections than you (I go back to the sixties). However, that is not the point. If you do value the Constitution, then I don’t lunp you with anybody. I do take exception to the mindless comments that I have seen on this forum that are a from a personality cult. That includes both Trumpsters and Cruzites. I, like you, are offended by posters that have relied on gossip and outright lies. I don’t know anyone on this forum personally, so I am not qualified to judge anyone about anything, so I only hear posters comments. I do feel, however, that is important to point out the personality driven negative comments because if we don’t, some of the morons will believe that we agree with them. In the scheme of things, my prism is the constitution, of which I sore an oath on, and the God o abraham, Issac and Jacob..
