What rich irony, if one of the most calculating politicians in modern American politics miscalculated the will of Wisconsin's Republican voters, something Democrats have done repeatedly since 2010.
If Donald Trump loses Wisconsin's primary on Tuesday, it will not be because of the uproar over his comments about Ted Cruz's wife, Heidi. Or his reaction to the confrontation with a female reporter that led to an arrest summons for his campaign manager. Or even his suggestion that women who get abortions should face some form of punishment if Roe v. Wade is overturned.
Instead, it will be his misunderstanding of Badger State conservatives' deep relationship with their elected officials, one that does not take well to outsiders trying to divide them from the people they worked so hard to put and keep in office.
Trump ran into a buzz saw in Wisconsin last week when he went on the local talk-radio circuit, which is staunchly conservative and widely influences Republican voters very different from national talk-show hosts who don't ask him tough questions and lean toward rabble-rousing rather than ideological discussions....

Not now that he has an expert hand helping him with the delegate count. It is doubtful that Cruz will even get 20% of the vote in the N.Y. primary, so put that in your pipe and smoke it!
That's your opinion about Cruz in NYS not getting over 20%. I think Cruz will get over 20% and Trump will get over 50%.
What is fact, in NYS as of about a week ago, the candidates will no longer be allowed to file slates of delegates. Its The New York Republican Party state committee that will select delegates.
So put that in your gin and drink it.
It's very unlike that Cruz get 1237 before the convention.
Thank you for the screen name.
It appears she was posting here until 3 years ago...No activity since...So she is not an “Active Freeper”
Might be more accurate to say that...
From what I have read, we have had a number of celebs on Free Republic, but most that I am aware of are no longer active.
I don't support state parties picking delegates for the candidates and I don't support state parties picking at large delegates.
I do support the Rule 40 requirements.
And I don't support changing the 1237 rule.
can you fill me in on the “debacle in Tennessee?” Not sure exactly to what you are referring.
Will Trump be able to keep his 12 delegates?
Using rules? Possibly.
I think I get it...
“Was the ENTIRE SOUTH + Michigan and Ohio and Virginia, Cruzs?”
Exactly! I never hear the media talk about Cruz’s Waterloo? Literally every primary they all say if Trump loses, it’s over, but I never hear about how Cruz didn’t win any state in the south and is behind in every poll in the northeast states coming up...Proves the establishment media is in the pockets of the elite donor class.
Well, you said it...I am still not sure what you meant...using rules? possibly?
Was it a “clever” comment indicating shifty actions by Cruz camp to snatch votes? No matter.
I just saw this, and I think I get what you mean...whatever it takes to win is OK..end justifies the means...
If Trump fails to get a majority of delegates before the convention... I don’t think that it will matter what the repercussions are. Neither Cruz or Trump will get the nomination. A vote for Cruz or Kasich is a vote to leave the establishment firmly in control. This is the narrative that Trump needs to pivot to.
I think that Cruz may play ball when his mathematical possibility of getting to a majority of delegates before the convention disappears completely. His conservative principles, his ability to argue, and his mind could do the most good in the Supreme Court.

Thanks to sleddogs and Wildhighlander57.
That’s a very well thought out post, and I was wondering the same thing...honestly I think a lot of Cruz supporters have just come to hate Trump for whatever reason and see Cruz as their only other candidate.
But it doesn’t change the fact that he is being backed by the very same evil globalists that we, as conservatives, claim to be fighting against.
Yeah Cruz will be eliminated by the 26th from getting 1,237.
Thanks for that post, I live in PA, but have been looking for people’s opinions who live in Wisconsin. Not just poll numbers, but first hand information.
Mr. Reign has an excellent answer that sounds a lot like Marty DiBergi in Spinal Tap when asked if the shrinking venues where the band is booked reflects that the band's popularity is waning.
"No, not at all" ... which is to say, 'obviously, yes.'
