How California Primary Rules Could Help Ted Cruz
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | March 28, 2016 | Jon Fleischman

For the first time in a very long time, the very late June primary in California will actually matter.

Moreover, thanks to the history of the California Republican Party, only Republicans can participate in the primary process in the nation’s largest state, and California has a winner-take-all-by-district system that may allow Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to mount a comeback against frontrunner Donald Trump.

In 1998, Michael Schroeder was Chair of the State GOP. Schroeder was instrumental, as a member of the RNC’s Rules Committee, in securing language that was adopted into the official Rules of the party:

Any state Republican Party may set the date for any primary, caucus, convention or meeting for the purpose of voting for a presidential candidate and/or electing, selecting, allocating or binding delegates to the national convention. … To the extent a state Republican Party’s rules are in conflict with its state laws with respect to this rule, the provisions of this rule and the state Republican Party’s rules shall control.

Schroeder also successfully led an effort to amend the California GOP rules to make it clear that only Republicans can vote in the primary.

Today Schroeder is serving as the volunteer Political Director of the Ted Cruz campaign in California, where it could turn out that his handiwork of nearly 18 years ago may mean everything....

So you are saying Cruz lost in Florida because Rubio was still in the race ? I don’t think there has been a lot of evidence that former Rubio supporters are choosing Cruz over Trump.

In Florida, Trump got more votes than Cruz and Rubio combined:

Donald Trump

Marco Rubio

Ted Cruz

402,627

It would be a hoot if the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party and a few others all nominated Trump as their candidate in absentia and “if he is willing”. The RNC would have to nominate him or just admit that they were intentionally throwing the race to the Dims.

In the latest one-on-one Reuters poll, Cruz is beating Rump like a rented mule. Voters are starting to realize what an empty suit Rump is, and how he will lie and do anything to win, a sleazy typical politician of the worst kind.

When you find yourself fighting on the same side as Soros, MSM, Hillary Bernie and the Establishment something is not right. Logic says they would not be fighting Trump like this if he was one of them. Are you sure you have not been sucked in by the Enemies to destroy a threat to them?

You are not counting on Trump running as a Libertarian are you? Because many states have “sore loser” laws. Which means it’s not legally possible to get on the ballot in many states if a candidate loses a party nomination but was a candidate in the primary

As pointed out in another thread, sore loser laws generally do not apply to the office of President, and may be invalid in the two states that do. John Anderson was able to get on the ballot nationwide after losing the nomination to Reagan in 1980.

If Trump want to run independent, he has the means to get on the ballot in all 50 states and DC if he was willing to use his considerable financial resources, though he'd have to get a bigger/better ground game. Barring that, he has an easy name to spell, and he could pull a Murkowski.

Is there a California republican party? They are silent as heck. Dem governor, and one seat short of dem supermajorities in both houses. Seems like the only thing the Cal GOP is interested in doing is trying to stop Trump, not dems.
