The Daily Trail: Donald Trump's week was bad. Today it got worse.
The Washington Post's Post Politics ^ | March 30, 2016 | Rebecca Sinderbrand

Donald Trump likes to say he's running a campaign unlike any other. He's willing to do the things other candidates won't.

Sometimes there's a reason nobody's touching the hot stove.

Today, the GOP front-runner learned what happens when a candidate goes off-script on abortion.

The remarks came while Trump was being asked by MSNBC’s Chris Matthews during a pre-taped town hall about the practical implications of banning abortion nationwide. Matthews specifically pressed Trump on the criminal consequences women would face for seeking abortions if Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide, were overturned.

“This is not something you can dodge. If you say abortion is a crime or abortion is murder, you have to deal with it under the law. Should abortion be punished?" Matthews said.

"The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment," Trump said as Matthews pushed him for specifics....

Cruz spent half his work life in private practice. Do some research.

The MSM is continuing the war on woman narrative.....

Yep...playing right into the Hillary camp who wants issues of woman to be the focus....she’s run on this for years.... (Unfortunately Trump can’t recognize when he’s being baited.)

Interesting is the younger woman don’t buy Hillary’s idea of the glass ceiling.....so she had no recourse but to hit an area that they can relate to....abortion fits that bill.

Cruz is doing Hillary’s foundation work on Trump

It makes it easier for Hillary to continue Cruz’s work

I don’t understand why Cruz hates America so much that he wants to help that witch

This is why I see Cruz as the establishment guy, and I believe he has always been the establishment guy. He was playing us all as suckers

Really? Maybe you need to do some research. Did he ever have a non government job???? Maybe 1995-1998?

Cruz graduated from Princeton University in 1992, and from Harvard Law School in 1995. Between 1999 and 2003, he was the Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the United States Department of Justice, and domestic policy advisor to George W. Bush on the 2000 George W. Bush presidential campaign. He served as Solicitor General of Texas, from 2003 to 2008, appointed by Texas Attorney General, Greg Abbott. He was the first Hispanic, and the longest-serving, Solicitor General in Texas history. From 2004 to 2009, Cruz was also an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation.

Cruz ran for the Senate seat vacated by fellow Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison, and in July 2012, defeated Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst, during the Republican primary runoff, 57%–43%. Cruz then defeated former state Representative Paul Sadler in the November 2012 general election, winning 56%–41%. He is the first Hispanic American to serve as a U.S. senator representing Texas, and is one of three senators of Cuban descent. He chairs the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight, Federal Rights and Agency Activities and is also the chairman of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Space, Science and Competitiveness. In November 2012, he was appointed vice-chairman of the National Republican senatorial committee.

No...What Cruz is doing is running in a Primary race and his opposition currently is Trump no matter how you color it. ....Hillary believes possible she may run against Trump, (she already knows how Cruz operates), so she’s setting up Trump.

BTW The Clinton machine does not need Cruz to help them against Trump....Trump more and more makes it pretty easy to set things up without anyone’s help. His motor mouth just plays whatever they need...and even Trump supporters know he does that.

My gosh we’ve all watched how the party and candidates have eaten each other up....the Demorats don’t need to do a thing until this dust settles.....our guys are doing it all for them.

What I am saying is that the Cruz campaign is setting up for Hillary the attacks on Donald Trump

Hillary will be expanding on what Cruz has already done

Cruz is done, he is basically almost mathematically out of the race for the first ballot

He is just playing spoiler, just like Kasich

Neither will win the nomination, JEB or Romney, heck Trump might has a better chance at willing the 2nd or 3rd ballot then Cruz or Kasich.

But starting this “war on women” attacks here in March, does help the Clinton campaign a great deal. Cruz is laying the foundation.

Republican candidates need to say “next question” when asked anything about abortion.

No, they should say, "A DNA test would prove that mother and fetus are two separate individual human beings and I'm opposed to killing human beings unless they are trying to kill me."

And tomorrow will be better. Are they going to write another article about that?

in normal campaign world this would be true... will it have a negative impact on Trump? instinct says yes.. but it’s been proven wrong every time. Starting to think, Trump is magic?

It is on TV, so you can’t pretend Trump didn’t made another ass of himself today.

Tripping up Republicans over abortion is like shooting fish in a barrel. Crissy Matthews laid a trap and Trump stumbled right into it. You think they would've learned by now.

I watched Chrissy leading Trump down the yellow brick road. I was trying to put my hand through the TV screen to cover his mouth so he wouldn’t say it. The guy has no advisors and he thinks he doesn’t need them. He does.

After serving as Texas solicitor general, Cruz spent four years in a private law firm representing a Chinese firm charged with copying American tire technology, and a couple New Mexico personal injury cases where he advocated preserving high punitive damages. Then he ran for US senate, winning with a lot of help from Sarah Palin.
Like Obama, he didn’t waste much time there, two years later renouncing his Canadian citizenship, putting on his “Mr, Smith Goes To Washington” persona and, against the advice of many senior to him, then filed to run for president.

Lincoln had a grand total of two years experience in office when he ran. Neither Grant nor Eisenhower ever held elective office before entering the White House.
