So why bother with primary elections? Save all the time and money and go straight to the convention.

Actually, there are no rules. The 1237 thing is what people talk about, but based on the desired outcome, that number can be either higher or lower. Outcome first, then they find a procedure that gets them where they’ve decided to go.

The National Review, ha ha. Keep on dreaming and hoping.

If one of the top two Trump/Cruz don't walk out with the nomination, the Republican party is dead forever.
No way millions of voters will show up to support an 'assigned' nominee.
The other problem is that Trump & Cruz are being so damaged by this process, it's going to be a tough road anyways.

Well America. Just stay home on election day, you are not needed.
They only let you vote to amuse you.

In 2012, Mitt Romney didnt lose a contest after March 24. His closest competitor, Rick Santorum, dropped out shortly after losing Wisconsin on April 3Ted could be out by April 3, depending on what twitter digs up in the next 48 hours.

The delegates need to look at an electoral map and see who can beat Hillary.
Cruz can’t.

Trump once decried this rule as arbitrary
It is arbitrary. Should Trump get the most delegates but fail to get the nomination shtf and those of us who write him in will hand the nomination to the dems. Convince me to vote otherwise please.
No really, try to convince me and every other person who wants trump that their nomination amounts to a pile of pig sh8t and that now we should vote for whomever the GOP decides is good enough for us.
I'm not addressing this to you 2nddivisionyet so please don't take offence, but rather anyone who wants to answer.

Trumps plaint is a little like showing up at a cricket match and crying foul because the opposing team knows the rules and all you know is that you swing a bat.
It's more like being taken to court and not given a lawyer.

so why do we vote then?
Come on this is the establishment who thinks we are scum and they know better. Because we are not doing what they want they want to do this and give us an appearance we get a say when clearly now we don’t if we go by their crap.

So there are 5 Rubio delegates and 5 party leaders.
Why is the guy so sure he will go 0-10 with them.
Is that realistic?
It is as if he has gone around bad mouthing Rubio for the past five months alienating all of Rubios delegates.
Or gone around bashing party leaders...
Poor little baby is tossin a Trumpertantrum.

I sure hope the delegates have a LOT OF MONEY tucked away for legal battles against Trump’s team - and Trump certainly can afford it!

The “consensus choice” is obviously not the candidate with the most votes or delegates but the one who’s best at manipulating the rules. Actually it won’t even be him but instead the GOPe’s favorite. But all done by the rules so “we’re good, right”
To: 2ndDivisionVet
None of this means anything. Trump will never get the nomination from the Republican wing of the UniParty. Forget the GOPe, the GOP will simply not allow it. There is NOTHING that can be done (politically) that can change that fact.
