Delegates discuss contacting other campaigns for advice, lack of organisation and the disappearance of state chair Kent Gray during anxious conference call
Illinois delegates elected to represent Donald Trump have voiced fears about chaotic organisation and a lack of leadership in their state as Republicans prepare for what could be the first contested convention in decades.
During a torturous two-hour conference call on Thursday night, the delegates struggled to figure out how to help the frontrunner at the Republican National Convention in July, wondering how best to contact the campaign in Wisconsin for tips.
Anxiety was mounting throughout the conference call about the lack of organization in the Land of Lincoln for Trump. As one person said "There is no Trump team in Illinois, it's us", a statement echoed by pro-Trump activist Doug Ibendahl when he pointed out on the call "we don't have any leader, it's just us."
The Guardian understands the delegates also tried to deal with the mysterious disappearance of former Trump state chair Kent Gray from the campaign's operations. Before leaving the campaign, Gray had tried to keep rival campaigns from making the ballot in Illinois but failed because he had not filed the paperwork in a timely manner....

Because Trump knows it all, all you have to do is listen to him he’ll tell you twenty times.
Yep, Cruz’s come from behind senate campaign is something to be studied. And the first rule to follow is if you’re not a citizen of the country in which you’re running, keep it to yourself.
The “rules” were set up for deceit and parry power over the will of the people. If you get the votes you should get the corresponding delegates period. It shouldn’t require ignoring the peoples sacred vote for procedure, but that’s the insane corrupt Republican party that Cruz fans seem so proud of. Trump should have just went third party to begin with there is no reforming the GOP
I call it Cruzlim Persecution Complex.
Is Ted Cruz a natural-born citizen eligible to serve as president? [Yes! And I support him! JimRob]

I have read several reports such as this one regarding the disorganization and lack of detail in Mr. Trump’s campaign. In the real world of presidential politics, understanding the rules and doing the state and district level organizational work is equally as important as the marketing and negative branding where he has demonstrated such skill.
One other thought: I first started lurking on Free Republic during the first term Clinton scandals. There was always the confident prediction that scandal would bring him down. He won re-election without any difficulty. Then came Obama and the same confident predictions that information to prove his lack of eligibility was just waiting to be released and that would bring him down. (I think even Mr. Trump jumped on that bandwagon.) Despite all the big talk and confident predictions, he was re-elected without any problem. Now, in this nomination process and prospectively for the general election, we see hopes and dreams being attached to the next big scandal. You sometimes have to question whether we really want to win the presidency or just settle accumulated grievances.
If the Illinois delegates were put in place by the voters, what additional "leadership" do they need, other than fulfilling the job they were elected to do at the convention?
If they are wavering, looking over their shoulder to see what The Ill-Annoy Uni-Party Combine tells them to do (i.e. change their vote to Cruz, Kasich or Ryan), then they have no collective backbone.
Well, Trump also has no legislative or executive branch experience. But one of his selling points is that he's supposedly going to hire the best, smartest people to give him advice and help him be an effective President.
So why should we believe he's capable of the much more complicated task of hiring an entire government if he can't even hire smart, competent people for his campaign?
Sorry, meant to also ping peyton Randolph to post 28
Sorry he’s being outsmarted.
Whose fault is it that Trump hasn't hired a competent, professional campaign organization to take care of these things?
That’s the $64,000 question, isn’t it? How much of all this is a Potemkin village?
But this is Trump's own people saying that he has failed to put together any kind of an organization. That's just negligence/incompetence.
“The video is coming this week and there is apparently more.”
I’ve been hearing a lot of people saying that the last couple days. Do you have a link, or source? I’m not saying you’re wrong. I just would like to know what it’s based on.

That’s about the video. This apparently has been known for some time. Not sure what else is coming. We’ll have to watch and see.
With all the slime being thrown at Sen Cruz he must really be beating Trump at organizing and recruiting future supporters at the convention. Trump’s only weapon is to throw dirt and to lie about his opponent. Trump can’t attack on substance because he really hasn’t thought through what he believes on any given topic.
Not one thing you said was true.
O.K. Thanks.
