Donald Trump barely won Louisianas primary. In fact, he lost the actual primary day turnout. A big win in early voting helped him keep the lead, but it was close. So close, in fact, that for all intents and purposes, it was a draw.
Enter Louisiana politics. Via my colleague streiff:
What is very clear is that if Donald Trump is not awarded the nomination on the first ballot, his bloc of delegates will melt away and his wins are not being capitalized upon because his campaign is essentially incompetent.
You see, when it came down to the actual election of the delegates, Cruz had more support in the room. This gives him an advantage over Trump, and one that plays into the narrative of the anti-Trump crowd: Trump isnt likable enough to actually win. His campaign cant organize well enough to actually get his delegates to the convention, and party leaders dont like the guy enough to follow his lead.
Of course, being the loser he is, Donald Trump responds as only a loser can: he threatens to sue....

Red State will soon go the way of Little Green Footballs.
It’s about delegates, not votes. Cruz clearly stated, early, he was going for delegates, not votes.
Apparently, that strategy is not as understood in this part of the process by other campaigns/candidates. That is why Cruz beat Trump in AZ.
Arizona was winner take all and Trump won more votes than Cruz and the second placer combined. You sure you mean Arizona?
There is little doubt that Ted Cruze is a liar.
Decision Desk says that Trump won by 11K votes.
Whatever the number, that's not a draw.
I’ll answer that. No, I won’t vote for Hillary. I won’t vote for Cruz either. And you can’t make me!
If Louisiana was a draw, then what was Iowa? Cruz only won Iowa by 6,000 votes and got just one more delegate (8) than Trump (7). Yet all I hear is how Cruz "crushed" Trump in Iowa.
Who cares. As a Trump supporter, I'm willing to concede that Cruz is doing well overall. I'm actually proud that Trump and Cruz are combining for 80% or more of the delegates won so far and that the GOP establishment favorites like Bush, Perry and Rubio had to drop out of the race. Why are they so bitter?
Could have been a Trump/Cruz ticket but the nastiness of Cruz and his supporters are probably going to make that not possible.
Some of the commentary at the link is really brutal and inappropriate [regarding Melania]. DJT’s people better pay attention and block some of that stuff.

I guess we can now add Louisiana to the mix.
“There is little doubt that Ted Cruze is a liar.”
There is even less doubt that Donald Trump is a liar.
He’s a fighting SOB. A lot of us admire that quality in him.
Red State=cr@p!
What will “melt away” if the nom is stolen from Trump will be the GOP and the political career of the junior Senator from Texas.
Cruz is a suppurating pilonidal cyst!
Well that’s creative.
>>Dirty, rotten, lying, crooked, sniffling, low brow, POS!!!
He makes Hillary look like a angel...<<
Happy Easter!
What he is doing is not called fighting. It is called dishonest and it is cheating voters.
Cruz will be despised for the scum he is.
Trump is right because he can pay for lawyers.
So inspiring. /s
You're the one who is dumber than a box of rocks; not to mention a gullible fool !
