Cruz Wanted a Border Wall in 2012 While Trump Was Still Lobbying for Amnesty [VIDEOS]

The only defense that he and his supporters can muster is that he has "evolved" on his beliefs of nearly seven decades. This is awfully convenient, of course, considering that his new talking points match the narrative that is required to stir up what psychologists are calling the "authoritarian wing" of the Republican party. These are the Republicans who are angry about what the government is doing and who want someone strong to tell them what to think and how to act. It's the daddy-issues wing of the party - those who know enough to want change but who don't take the time to research the claims of their chosen candidate.

These people won't be reached. Instead, we're appealing to the curious- but thoughtful-Republicans who are interested in hearing what Trump has to say but who won't follow him blindly based upon the unlikely claim that he's erased 67-years of liberalism just in time to be Mr. Conservative. They will research him and come to the conclusion that he was pro-amnesty less than two years before his infamous anti-immigrant rant when he launched his campaign....

By the way, do you agree with Cruz that the bombings in Belgium are TRUMP’s FAULT, for wanting to pull back from NATO?

Oh, this is ridicules. YOU have a reading problem. Cruz didn't blame Trump.

He sure as hell mentioned Trump when giving his response to the bombing, and not in a nice way.

HE IS PATHETIC.

"We are STILL WAITING for you to show us where Cruz talked about building a wall in the first half of 2015...Cruz wasn’t SAYING JACK about a wall last year UNTIL AFTER TRUMP came, and it still TOOK HIM MONTHS."

Try a little research and maybe you'll find the following:

Cruz’s immigration plan from 2011

So who is copying whom?

Didn’t realize that 2011 was in the FIRST HALF OF 2015, but then I wasn’t educated under Common Core either...

Being that 2011 precedes 2015, gotta wonder?

Compared to Trump, Cruz historically owns the issue.

"Cruz wasn’t SAYING JACK about a wall last year UNTIL AFTER TRUMP came, and it still TOOK HIM MONTHS."

Actually, Donnie got the idea from Cruz, who proposed it back in May 2013. Here's an excerpt from a Dallas Morning News article on May 9, 2013:

A Senate committee rejected an immigration-legislation amendment offered by Sen. Ted Cruz today that would have added significant security resources along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The amendment proposed tripling the number of Border Patrol agents stationed along the U.S.-Mexico border and quadrupling equipment, “including cameras, sensors, drones and helicopters,” within three years. And the 700 miles of border fence required by a 2006 law would need to be finished.

At that time, Donnie was still talking amnesty for illegal aliens. See this from a January 4, 2016 American Thinker article:

And what was Donald Trump talking about during this time? Not a border fence, that's for sure. Instead, just a few months earlier, Trump was saying that Mitt Romney's self-deportation program was "mean-spirited," further adding:

The GOP has to develop a comprehensive policy “to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful productive citizens of this country,” Trump says.

In fact, as recently as June of 2015, Trump was still talking about amnesty for illegal aliens:

You don't have to go back far to find a pro-amnesty statement from the No. 1 defender of deportation. At the end of June, speaking to the press in Chicago and after saying he "heard you probably have 30 million" illegal aliens in America, Trump contended:

"You have to give them a path, and you have to make it possible for them to succeed. You have to do that. But the bad ones, and there are bad ones, you have to get out, and you have to get them out fast."

That's "path" as in "path to citizenship," not a path to exit the country via our southern border. And it's clear he was referring to the bulk of the millions of aliens. The "bad ones" he would deport he depicts as a minority of the illegals. How small a minority is wide open to speculation

So if you go back in time, it was Cruz, not Trump, who first pushed a border fence not just with rhetoric, but with legislation, and it was Trump who started talking about the need for a border fence after Cruz started pushing for it. Because up to then, Trump was a pro-amnesty liberal democrat.

I’m not arguing who came first, I am arguing about who was saying it IN THIS ELECTION CYCLE - as the issue of border security ALWAYS disappears in Presidential election years.

Thankfully, Trump wasn’t controlled by people that could stop him.

Yeah. Trump made a politically calculated decision just a month after being pro-amnesty, which he had probably been for decades.

He figured out what to say to get himself elected, and you bought it - hook, line, and sinker.

Sounds like a politician to me...

Cruz was born in Canada, to a Cuban father. Nothing matters after that. At least, to me.

Oh, there we go... Whenever you can't argue the facts or the issues, always go back to that Trump card issue. We're just quaking in our boots over that one.

Actually, I have dozens of people that respect my opinion and thought process. So, you may have one vote. I have dozens.

Here's a story a week before Trump's presidential announcement.

To believe Cruz, one has to believe what he testified regarding his no-named ‘poison bill’ was pure lies...so someone is lying - maybe both of them.

Given that, I’ll support the guy who’s talking it THIS CYCLE.

Bernie Sanders also calls for a ‘secure border’.

I was asking about A WALL. That’s what separates the men from the boys. That took Cruz until NOVEMBER in this election cycle.

Trump was for a legalization amnesty without deportations, for the good ones, until the last week of July 2015.

He even stated that he might consider a citizenship amnesty not now, but later.

CNN Transcript

Since then, he has been for deportations and expediting the good ones back for a legalization amnesty. And he still hasn't reversed himself on considering a citizenship amnesty later.
