WASHINGTON--The Republican National Committee (RNC) is throwing cold water on pundit Bill Kristol's efforts to form a third party to challenge Donald Trump in the general election.
Bill Kristol, son of Irving, is trying to get retired senator Tom Coburn or retired Texas governor Rick Perry to run independently if the GOP Establishment can't figure out how to broker the convention in Cleveland to deny Trump the nomination.
RNC spokesman Sean Spicer told Breitbart News that "any effort to facilitate a third party ultimately is helping to elect Hillary Clinton."
"The Republican Party must be united to take back the White House," Spicer said.
Kristol has been touting his potential third party on Twitter....

Ain’t nobody gonna run as a third party. It’s all brinkmanship to try and keep people in line. When Trump threatened it, it was to ensure the RNC stuck to their word. When Bill Kristol does it, it’s a toothless, laughable threat. At this point, the donor class is spent. They have flushed hundreds of millions into the toilet based on the promises of the “insider experts”, with nothing at all to show for it.
I expect many of wealthy “kingmakers” to sit out the general election when Trump gets the nomination, and I’m perfectly fine with that. Some will get on board though, when they realize Trump is infinitely preferable to a Clinton/Sanders presidency, and that’s fine too. A few might even come around and realize that Trump is the candidate we need. Whatever happens, he has demonstrated that he’s capable of winning using only a fraction of the funds that a “normal” campaign uses. He doesn’t need to walk around with his pockets turned out promising away his principles to get fat Super PAC checks.
Screw Bill Kristol and his desperation. A broken clock is right twice a day, and the RNC is right to denounce his empty threats.
Actually, I’m now thinking a 3rd party may be an excellent idea....since the gop hates it.
The gop fools have no clue how much they are hated by the rank and file, and no idea why.
The RNC and GOPE don’t care who ultimately wins, Hillary or Bernie or Kasich. They will keep their seats and perks. That is all they are concerned about. America, not so much.
Is the RNC finally coming to their senses and realize the consequences of what they started, just to get rid of Trump, even if he is the one the voters want?
George Will demanded that the GOP give Obama’s Judge a vote, today
Who ever said he was Conservative , republican or even a Rino. It should come with a waiver whn George Will and David Brooks are not conservative , Republican or even a RINO these writers are not even blue dog democrats

Stephen Hayes is in their gang as well. I can not stand to watch that shunk when he’s on FOX. His hate for Trump is unnatural.....it’s like his world is going to end if Trump is elected....weird.
Perry? Haha. Did he ever even get single digits with republicans. Now there is a great plan. What a tool. Isn’t he the one who was floating Sarah plains name? He can’t pick winners.
Trump is having a big pow wow with the RNC big wigs in DC tomorrow in his attorneys office. I am VERY curious how this will play out. I wonder if it will be the bat scene from the movie The untouchables....
He has to meet with them at some point. I just wonder what the significance of tomorrows meeting tomorrow is?
That was in 1908.
With the Democrats we get Hiilary. With the old guard Republicans we get Hillary. With Turmp we might get a chance. Maybe. I’d rather go down with an orangutan like Trump than more RINO’s like we see in Congress and the Senate. For now, I’ll pin my hopes on Cruz. If not, Trump will do.
Trump had a few choice words to say about Billy and his plot.
While the party bureaucrats and donors might not care about loosing the White House, I think a lot of the GOP rank and file are starting to get nervous about how a 3rd party would effect their careers. They’re beginning to see the handwriting on the wall, and how destructive an ‘Anybody but Trump’ opposition candidate would be to the GOP in general, and to their own reelection prospects in particular. Even many establishment members of congress are starting to see this. While they may be loyal to the establishment, that loyalty isn’t so great that they’re willing to lose their jobs over it.
While individual members of Congress may be expendable to the party higher-ups in their effort to maintain the Uniparty status quo, the loyalty of an individual RINO politician isn’t going to extend beyond his or self interest. Without reelection, none of it matters to them.
Both Will and Kristol are pointy-headed intellectuals who cannot come to grips with the fact that no one much cares what they say anymore, because we have realized that they don’t really care about this country. They only care about getting invited to the right parties, writing books and getting big compensation for writing and appearing on air. Like the GOPe, they get all of this no matter which party is in power. They, as pundits, probably do better with a Dem in the WH.
Screw them, I have no need for them or anyone like them.
At least the Party itself SEEMS to be coming to its senses...but I will withhold judgment until I see if they play any games between now and the convention.
Trump is leading a bloodless coup against a very rich and powerful cabal. If you’re expecting Mr. Rodgers, maybe you should reassess.
Trump! Watch out! It’s a trick! Cruz has fallen for it! Don’t you fall for it, too!
Perry built himself a big ranch house near Round Top, Texas with the money he got paid while governor. Yeah, right.
He now sits on his front porch still trying to remember the third government agency he was going to get rid of. Oooops!
My point exactly.
