COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Seventeen-year-olds who will turn 18 before the fall presidential election can vote in Ohio's presidential primary, a judge ruled Friday in a potential boost for Democrat Bernie Sanders as he fights to open elections across the country to the young people who are among his key supporters.

The judge's decision reversed instructions from the swing state's election chief just days before Tuesday's primary and amid early voting. Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted initially vowed to appeal the ruling, then opted not to fight it after a state appeals court set a hearing for Monday....

So something illegal is now legal by a judge who hates our constitution.

Stupid rule.

I guess it is a pro-Bernie thing.

I think the age should go back up to 21.

All 6 of them will be up early to cast their ballots.

Bernie’s just trying to get back at Hillary for her vote fraud in earlier primaries.

I live in Ohio and find this irritating. They have to be on Mommy and Daddy’s insurance till they’re 26 or something but let’s lower the voting age.

We’ve been allowing zero-liability citizens to vote for a long time. They just keep finding ways to expand the net. This is absurd. Judicial activism has got to be stopped. Legislators write law, not judges.

My 18 year old son disagrees. He's heading to Fort Benning in June...

26 would be better still with exceptions only for those in full time military service or otherwise financially independent.

As many of us on here who have been voting for a long, long time keep saying. this is undoubtedly the strangest election we have ever seen.

I would suggest bringing back one of the original prerequisites for voting — land ownership.

“My 18 year old son disagrees. He’s heading to Fort Benning in June...”

What do you think?

I would make an exception for active service members.

But there are a lot more 18 years that would more than cancel out your son’s vote.

“I would suggest bringing back one of the original prerequisites for voting — land ownership.”

That is the one thing that would do the most to turn the tide. The mailing list for property taxes should be the same as the mailing list for ballots.

A breathtakingly stupid decision. Either you are 18 at the time you case your vote or you are not.

If this is allowed, than we should do it everywhere....and then why not lower the voting age to 13 to make it fair for all teenagers! After all, we need to be fair to everyone, don’t we?

Then we can all share the wealth created by the decisions of the Bernie Morons.

I'm sure that's the case, but then again most of the aren't all that interested in voting.

I'm not a big fan of limiting freedoms. When I was 18 I had an apartment and a job, sometimes two, paid my taxes and my own way. It took me until I was 20 to head to Benning.

Whether people own land (which I didn't until after I turned 30) or whatever circumstance they find themselves, they have a right to their say politically.

Exclusions can always be shifted depending on who is in power and I'd revolt if I was on the wrong side of that mess.

Shut down this primary or invalidate the outcome. Then remove the judge from the bench and place in a dirt prison.
