A lot of Trump folks are not very happy about the fact that Ted Cruz tied Donald Trump in the number of delegates he received from the Louisiana Primary on Saturday. The head of Trump's campaign in Louisiana, Woody Jenkins, posted a lengthy rant on how unfair it is and said that it is, somehow, a violation of the 14th Amendment.
The problem for Team Trump is that they simply did not take part in writing the formula for handing out the delegates in the first place. This comes from the Louisiana GOP Executive Director, via the Hayride:
I sent out a memo to the campaigns last week telling them how the calculations would be done. We wanted to announce before the election how we viewed proportionality. The rules provided the authority for the Executive Committee to do so.
We asked Woody [Jenkins] on multiple occasions to send his suggestions. He sent nothing.
We sent the memo out to all campaigns and received no objections. The intro of the memo said "Below are the mathematical formulas we intend to use to determine allocations tomorrow. If you have any questions or objections, please contact me immediately to discuss." Woody had four chances to participate in writing the formula and declined.
The Trump folks didn't participate in writing the formula that would ultimately determine how many delegates their candidate would get. That's beyond irresponsible. It's negligent and, if you care about such things, it's going to hurt Trump in the long run.
Of course, if you're like me, you're hoping for more Woody Jenkinses across these United States.
I don’t believe this reprobate for a nanosecond.
How does the winner not get the most ? Typical gope corruption. Trump has won 12 primaries, Cruz 2 yet Trump only has a 84 delegate lead. The contest hasnt been close ,Trump has dominated.
Personally I hope your festering carcass rots in hell for eternity. What you posted is evil. 666 kind of evil. I don’t care what division you were in, you are a son of Satan. To want to have your own will done over the people is disgusting. It is not throw up in my mouth a little disgusting it is Charles Manson disgusting.
xoxoxox
Sorry I got so hot under the collar I did not think about how I posted that. It is at the article author.
Cruz has won 6 states so far.
If I recall correctly old Woody got cheated by the Landreauxs a couple of times. He should know!
The disturbing part is old Woody didn't do squat about it. Not even complain a lil bit when it happened to him, a Republican!
I still think Trump is making us for Chumps. He appears to be a Dhim impersonation of what they think conservatives are. He appears to be acting a script, throwing right wing red meat, and winning.
But will he deliver or bow to Mammon? Rhetorical question.
Look, you Cruz people need to get a little perspective. Who is the enemy. The Uniparty. Who controls the Uniparty. Who has a Uniparty wife. Welp, sorry but it is true.
Much better than I expected.
He’ll be the favorite for the R nomination in 2020, assuming a Dem win this fall.
Don’t sweat it. Cruz will get smoked like the Cuban, illegal alien cigar he is.
Good grief you are brave. You have my respect at the same level I give Netanyahu. Semper Fi.
Dude! Your’re flippin out...
A little over the top, are we?
I’m a Trump supporter but 2nd Division posts a huge amount of posts every day. Without him, we wouldn’t be the FR we are today. When things settle down, he’ll still be here posting interesting articles.
So calm down.
In the Louisiana primary, Trump got 41% and Cruz got 38%, so Trump won by about 3%. Louisiana has 46 delegates, so that works out to about 1 delegate for every 2.2% of the vote. In a perfect world, that means Trump should probably have gotten 1 more delegate than Trump. It sounds like it turned out even because of some rounding/thresholds that were agreed upon in the rules. One delegate doesn’t sound like that big of a deal to me.
What I think is a big deal is who the actual delegates are. Are they Trump supporters chosen from a slate that was named by the Trump campaign? Or are they local party officials, who are pledged to vote for Trump on the first ballot, but are not necessarily committed Trump supporters? If no one wins the first ballot, it will make a huge difference on how the convention goes.
Price of admission to the Trump bandwagon.
It’s the winner/loser thing with Trump I imagine. If they both get the same number of delegates, how is Trump the winner?
Thank you.
