Donors ask GOP consulting firm to research independent presidential bid

Conservative donors have engaged a major GOP consulting firm in Florida to research the feasibility of mounting a late, independent run for president amid growing fears that Donald Trump could win the Republican nomination.

A memo prepared for the group zeroes in on ballot access as a looming obstacle for any independent candidate, along with actually identifying a viable, widely known contender and coalescing financial support for that person. The two states with the earliest deadlines for independent candidates, Texas and North Carolina, also have some of the highest hurdles for independents to get on the ballot, according to the research.

They aren’t going to accomplish anything except burn up another $20 million.

As others pointed out, Jeb spent 5x that amount and got nowhere.

These guys aren’t even going to get halfway to nowhere.

Its rich coming from the same people who lectured Trump about party loyalty.

Now when it comes to be loyal to the party, its thrown out of the window.

The reality is its very difficult for third party candidates to get on the ballot and a run a sustainable national campaign.

Basically, it would benefit Trump more than it would hurt him.

Just ask Jimmy Carter about John Anderson’s 1980 run.

I am a Cruz supporter, and if John Ellis Bush or Marco Rubio accepts a Third Party run, there will never, ever be a signed pledge one can make to the party that will mean anything.

You need Voters

They'll just use the "conservative" media to pound out the message day and night, "Hillary could get elected! Supreme Court! Most important election ever!", and the voters will be herded into the voting booths once again like the sheep they are.

How about Obama decides to get rid of Hillary through indictment. Trump wins GOP nomination. The Democrats and GOPe,run Biden and Rubio as a unity ticket.

McCain/Gore as a third party team. One tells us not to be “skeered” and the other won once already. Sounds like a match made in heaven.....or hell.
